well. The guy that wrote this was ignorant and offensive, but it does have it's funny moments.

So tell me, based on your experience, are the damage ratings to your sex life correct?

I don't have to worry about my hobbies hurting my sex life, since I have none. I guess that is why I don't have a sex life.

THANKS CRUEL WORLD!!!!

None of those things apply to me, but I'll fuck a geek who doesn't pester me with their geekiness. You play with dolls on your own time.

I'd say it definitely depends more on the personality than the hobbies themselves. When you're a dork you're a dork, dorky hobbies notwithstanding.

as for geeky sex life... I'll just say that cat5e is great for bondage biggrin

elaboration (must remember you're not in my head...) :
what I was trying to imply is that dorky hobbies don't make or break you. being socially inept and having stereotypically asocial hobbies aren't absolutely correlated.

Alot of guys just need to realize that all this stuff is ok so long as they understand that NO ONE MUST KNOW. A healthy sense of shame goes a long way with this stuff.

hmm, my sexlife killing hobby wasn't on the list, are thay saying console gamer geeks are getting some? who the fuck haven't i been hanging out with?

feels purely satirical. but serious LARPers scare me. at akon, i was talking to my friend who was working at the vLARP registration booth and catman (FUCKING CATMAN, a man who has transformed into a half cat FREEEEEEEEK) walks by and asks where the LARP is.

i have never been more scared in my life. that guy is fucking scary.

I think it's fucking brilliant. I can't imagine why anyone would think it ignorant or offensive unless they saw themselves described in it.

cat6 is standard for serious work now, and if you're feeling rich, fiber optic cables can be useful, but it's almost like stiff dental floss honestly...

Wait, isn't vampirism also a truly serious activity for some people as well? I know I had my share way back that didn't involve drama or theatrics but genuine blood-drawing and flesh-cutting.

I dunno if people that do these ubergeek activities even care about a sex life. I code, hack around, and read whitepapers because I've always had a better time doing that than having sex, so I have my hobbies in order to hurt my sex life. For some of these poor people, they might feel the same way (if they've ever had sex that is).

But still, these particular geek activities are all perfectly efficient time-wasters. That is, it's escapist entertainment to the extreme. Coding is useful and people pay you for it, RPGs of any sort won't get you a job w/ medical benefits, nor will it help you gain skills applicable to other areas of life.

I demand different categories of geeks!

I personally don't find it offensive. It's just not funny. It's certainly not brilliant. It's just someone writing down what we've all known for years: live action role players are freaks, but other than that, no one cares what you do with your free time, as long as you're not torturing kittens or having homosexual intercourse.

Oh, just kidding. That was a dig on conservatives, not homosexuals, for those who missed that.

An ex-flatmate of mine was a LARPer...one time he wanted us to go to the woods with him and camp out and some people would pretend to be orcs and stuff. surreal

We kept sharp objects away from him when he started making his chainmail vest...that took the best part of a year to finish then he moved out and went to live with his girlfriend...

Well I have not read this article yet, because the link does not seem to be working. I am here to tell you though, I am a geek. I have geek hobbies. It really is not a big deal. In fact after work last night I went to my girlfriends, but on the way there I had to stop at the local game store to see if this new book I've been waiting came out yet. It didn't but there was another book there that I picked up instead. Hell I want to open my own game store. I know I won't ever get rich off of it, but I could earn a living. All I need know is some sort of starting capitol.
