Here I was, all resolved to not drink any more caffeinated beverages. No more carbonated beverages. No more fast food, no more soda, no more bad stuff. I can drive by McDonald's and realize that after I eat the slightly tasty Big Mac, I'll feel like a twelve dollar whore, only twice as queasy. After I eat a Subway sub, I'll be bloated and seven dollars poorer. But the one thing I can never resist for more than a week is Mountain Dew. What's up with that?

What's the bane of your resolve? And how can mine be something as simple and testicle-shrinking as Mountain Dew?

do you know how bad mountain dew is for you? i swore it off about a year ago, when my dentist brought out his visual aids... his visual aids consisted of soda can with sugar cubes glued to them, to represent just how much sugary acid was in each... normal soda, like coca-cola or pepsi had about 8-10 cubes, but mountain dew had 15! the dentist said that you might as well knock your teeth out with a hammer, versus letting them slowly disolve with a lethal daily dose of the anti-freeze colored beverage. you ever wonder why most IT guys have bad teeth? i suppose that with a proper oral hygiene regimine you could combat it's evil effects, but it's just really bad shit.

i myself have 2 weaknesses: cherry cola slurpees (equally bad for your teeth i'm sure) from the s'leven and dim sum every weekend.

about twice a year i get on this kick where i have to have a slurpee every single day... i think they put secret habit forming chemicals into the beverages to keep me coming back, varying the amount of cherry and frozen cola. i actually have to keep telling myself "no more slurpees," talking myself down so i'll quit drinking them.

as for dim sum, it's addicting, but it's so damn good! steamed barbecued pork buns! sticky rice! egg custard sesame buns! chinese broccoli! shark fin dumplings! sugarcane shrimp! tapicoca milk tea! roasted duck! i've been going there long enough now to where i actually get preferred seating, close to the kitchen so that the steam carts' contents are hot and fresh. they don't even call me gweilo under their breath anymore.

Mmm... dumplings.

Yes, I do know how bad it is for me.

Willy hears ya; Willy don't care.
