4:1 is the classic ratio, not this ultra dry modernist crap of waving the vermouth bottle at the shaker, or that damned little spritzer bottle, or the sacrilege of swilling around some ice & vermouth in the metal shaker then DUMPING IT OUT before adding your gin.

I do like 'Rosa's idea here, a little nibble to get you thru your day when you can't get to your 3 martini luncheon.
