In a perfect world.

It may be entirely possible that a person isn't in the right mindset to even see those options - let alone take the right option.

Don't overestimate the reasoning abilities of someone who is destitute or is following a path of making the wrong choices.

Really? Cause I was homeless when I was 15 due to bad choices my father made. Where were my options then?

Not to defecate or urinate on equipment in a playground. Or to leave needles, crack pipes, and used condoms where children get get to them.

Actually...why don't the "users" just stop using, instead of making all of these namby-pamby excuses as to why they still "use"? Don't give me BS about being in the "right" mindset to stop. You just STOP...plain and simple.

Far as the homeless are concerned...if it's a LAZY homeless person who thinks he or she is owed a great deal from the world, I have news for them: LIFE is NOT fair. I know I'm tired of hearing a LAZY homeless person WHINE about there not being enough opportunities for jobs..or even places to wash up, wash clothing, get a decent meal. There ARE places a homeless person CAN do all of these things, if they actually stop guzzling booze, smoking dope, or making others feel BAD because we won't hand over 2 bucks so they can run next door to the liquor store and get their fix.

Like some of those times when you're out and see someone standing at a busy intersection holding a "Will Work For Food" sign. I'm sorry, but, if you can spend ALL freaking DAY standing on that corner, holding up a sign, you ARE CAPABLE of looking for and getting a JOB!

Someone has to think of these little ones, because it sure as hell isn't their parents. I hope the guy who made this robohero sees much success with this. At least he's doing SOMETHING about it. It's sad, really, that we even need daycare. Parents too tired to love thier child, attend recitals, on and on and on. Thanks goes to the few genuine individuals who DO have time to make sure these kids are safe, well-fed, and nurtured.

When was the last time you went job hunting? I only just got rehired to a new company, and I had to go through hell and high water to get this position. I spent two months unemployed when my reasons for leaving my previous employer were legitimate, and in most circumstances my work record would be considered very good.

It's not as simple to find a job as some people think, especially if you haven't had one for a while.

But, to swing this back on topic, I do agree with the guy who built the robot. I won't persecute a homeless person for being homeless, but if you make a playground unsafe, I think you deserve to be startled away by a barbecue smoker with a squirt gun.

Dear Ghost of Mother Theresa,

I live in the real world, so I find your post confusing. In my world, people like myself are capable of this crazy feeling called "empathy." It is actually one of the things that make us human and helped us to create a society. Also, because I am not a hamster, I understand that there are a multitude of reasons why someone would find themselves homeless. I am also not a fruit bat, which means that I understand life does not consist of just being lazy or not lazy. And not being a clam, I actually know that not lazy people can find themselves in horrible situations due to circumstances beyond their control.

But that's just me. I am not a salamander, so I am capable of complex thought.

What are you talking about? People LOVE to give jobs to people who have been wearing the same clothes for a month, have nowhere to bathe and who live in a park. Plus"Cleaning Windshields" looks awesome on a resume.

I take it you've never known anyone who is addicted to anything.

I have been with two addicts in the past and I always wondered why they couldn't just stop.

That's when I finally "got it" that if you aren't an addict, you will never understand their inability to "just stop."

I don't even know where to begin regarding your views on homelessness. I just don't. (Not to mention that I don't have that sort of energy this morning.)

P.S. I didn't read the sarcastic responses until just now....but you should understand where they are coming from. They can't figure out why you don't "just stop" thinking so narrowly.

To the DevilsReject:

Shall I criticize YOU for calling me a troll? No. I will just correct you as to who I am.

To PantherNesmith:

Twice unemployed due to layoffs..1st time was over a year..2nd time was merely 6 months. Total resumes/applications filled out in that time: 768. Positions offered to me: 2. yes, I did accept both jobs. No, I didn't go on welfare, since welfare is for those who have no means of financial support.

To Gringo:

I know of two homeless people who have told me they choose to not get jobs because they don't feel like working..even bragged about all they've stolen. True, that's only two out of who knows how many homeless in the US, but, it's still the truth.

A close friend of mine died because of drug addiction and alcohol ABUSE...he told me about 2 weeks before he died that he was proud of me for not doing what he did. His heart gave out because of all the pot and heroin he did over the years.

So, I don't need to be an addict to know how disgusting it is. I lost a friend because of it. So, yeah..I guess I am a fucking troll, just like a*hole devilsreject claims

so you know two homeless people. and you are going to judge every homeless person off what those two say? really? really?

So as long as you get the opinions of two people, it becomes fact?

4 people here, in this thread alone think you're an idiot. So that must mean that everyone on SG thinks your an idiot, i mean, since that's how that works.
