It was the summer of 1976 in Los Angeles and the Ramones were playing second bill to the Flamin' Groovies at the Roxy. Across the pond, the Sex Pistols were still months away from achieving everlasting infamy by calling their host a "fucking rotter" while live on British TV. In a Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot off Third Street in L.A.s Fairfax District, an 11-year-old Marc Canter caught his fellow classmate, Saul Hudson (aka, an 11-year-old Slash of Guns N Roses), suspiciously eyeballing Canter's...
Guns n Roses reinvigorated my love for hard rock music (and music in general) when I first became aware of them. And, I've never looked back. I was 18 the first time I heard "Welcome to the Jungle" and I went over the moon for them. I was lucky enough to see them three times during their peak. They were a breath of fresh air in a stagnant musical scene. My generation's Sex Pistols, and I wouldn't have it any other way. It was a special time and I'm glad I got to experience a little piece of it.
I was in L.A. earlier this month and I went to Canter's Deli at 4 a.m. before I left town. And, I noticed Reckless Road was on the counter and I couldn't stop looking through it... all those old photos from the early days. As corny as this sounds it almost brought a tear to my eye. Old memories of a wild-eyed teenager in love with his favorite band that have now become legends came flooding back to me.
After my six hour drive back home to Northern California. I got online and ordered Reckless Road. Slash is right... it is the best rock n roll coffee table book ever. Thank you Marc Canter for capturing a moment in time that will never be duplicated.
And, thank you Erin for an excellent interview. Thoroughly enjoyable!
WOW...Another KILLER interview by Erin...Slash is the coolest. Can't wait to read Canter's book. Oh yeah and Erin..I've said it before and I'll say it again...YOU ARE THE QUEEN OF ROCK...what an awesome interview!
Just another lame-ass Sunset strip hard rock/heavy metal band. Pretentious crap with a midwestern white trash singer. Give me something that will stand the test of time.

I don't get this. It's not like I am a big fan of the band, but what is the point of coming in to the thread just to bash them? Aren't there plenty of other places to spew negativity & bile?
since I have the internet back in my life, I have been going through archives of stuff I might have missed. I had been looking through interviews on this site for an hour and a half before I stumbled upon this one...
Saying this is going to sound odd on a site that deals in pin-ups of gorgeous ladies, but... I almost creamed my panties after finishing this interview!
