I think the only costumes in your size are going to be of Klingon or Wookie origins biggrin.

Okay guys, I've said it once and I'll say it again... much like the spirit of Christmas does not come from the store, neither does the spirit of Halloween. You're an "adult" now? So fucking what? Don't buy a premade costume. Really, how could you live with yourself? Excercize your creativity muscle.

Yeah, what Al said.

I don't think I've ever bought a costume before...all mine have been homemade since I started trick-or-treating (thanks to my mom).

I mean where the hell are you going to find Rainbow Brite and Lydia (from beetlejuice) costumes?

Well If everybody says that making your own is the way to go then I will go back to making my own, I just thought that maybe out there somewhere was a place where other people with actual costume making skills sold those skills and mad nice quality hand made costumes. Anyway thanks for the help guys biggrin

There are costume shops in every city. Renting them is a little cheesy but I have seen some very funny costumes that friends of mine have rented. You name it they got it... but you might have to leave your computer to find one. biggrin

making your own is really the only way to get something spectacular. you can cobble together amazing things from craft stores, vintage shops, goodwill, etc.

if you do decide to go the diy route i would also like to recommend for something that won't be a character or concept that exists in your head that you want to introduce to others. you can be a brand new superhero a steampunk porn star/scientist or even a fallen angel condemned to floating over chernyobl. think of what that person would look like and act like. then as they say in rocky horror, don't dream it. be it. at least for one night.

For some people, despite your best efforts, you look pretty much the same as you do on Halloween as you do any other time of the year.

One guy I know wore an Abercrombie & Fitch shirt on Halloween. That was a huge shock for me honestly. Much more than the cross-dressing guys rubbing against me in fact.

So, Halloween to me is not necessarily about dressing weird but dressing out of your normal routine, no matter how painful it may be for you and everyone around you.

I did something like that in high school. Lots of people didn't get the joke; they just kept telling me I looked really good.
