I'm surprised no one has said Jaws.

Pretty much ruined the ocean for me.

Event Horizon is one that still scares me. The scene in the service tunnel when the lights start flickering still creeps me the hell out.

The Descent is another that makes me jump.

And for sheer fucked-upedness (it's a word, I swear), it's hard to beat Singapore Sling.

Stephen King's 'The Stand' really freaked me out years ago. I haven't seen it recently, but I'm sure if I watched it now I wouldn't be half as scared.

Other than that...

Disturbing. I wouldn't say scared me but it certainly made me shudder.

I'm being really dumb here, but what actually was that part of the movie about? Did it have any relevance to the plot at all?

surreal surreal

I forgot all about Jacob's Ladder, it freaked me out when I was a kid and it's still one of my favorites.

That's true, but I consider it more of a war film than horror. "The Descent" has a kind of lurking creepiness that just tip-toes up behind you until the last half-hour, and then lunges at you in a fury.

Except they showed the monsters way too early.

Same problem as Jeepers Creepers. It's scary until you see the monster.

I hated "Jeepers Creepers" the whole way through, so that comparison doesn't work for me smile.

The only part of "Jeepers Creepers" that worked for me all that much was that last scene. You know the one.

Oh, man, I thought the first 45 minutes or so of Jeepers Creepers was fantastic.
