Very interesting topic, I know. Anyways, this blurb concerned Torrid and similar places that aim to bring real fashion to fuller figured young women. The blurb essentially said something like, "Are stores like this trying to make capitalize on obesity in young women? Are they trying to send a message that there's nothing wrong with being overweight? Find out at 11!"

puke

Clearly, all chubby ladies should be forced to wear nothing but burlap sacks to hide their shame at not reaching a socially acceptable weight.

Obesity = a weight where you are risking serious health problems. Not really acceptable unless you love heart attacks and diabetes.

If that's the point they were trying to make...

I mean, curvy women, chubby women, big women = good. Women with health problems that could be avoided = bad.

"I would scare you into watching but everything is hunky dory. Find out just how great life is by tuning in at 11!"

That would be wicked.

i've come to defend CaptainJAllama for making the mistake of taking something literally, the same way I and even AceTracer have before.

My friends who wear bigger sizes seem pretty happy to escape the lameness of Lane Bryant. I think I'll trust them to choose whether they are being exploited or not. It's hardly my call to make.

Besides, there's plenty of more legit arguments against Torrid. It is owned by Hot Topic, after all.

Ummm, I am plus sized. Not many places carry anything decent for me to wear, at least Torrid doesn't carry the same styles year in and out like Lane Bryant.

Not every woman will be a size 2.
