I wish that after the atrocity which was the Star Wars prequels (not to mention Enterprise) that Paramount would have thought twice before ruining the Trek franchise for a cheap buck. At least I know that I can block it out of my memory and pretend it never existed after I see it. I only hope enough Trek fans will still exist to keep the franchise going after this one bombs.

Y'all must be some serious Trekkies to get that excited about a bit of welding footage.

I mean, I would love for this to be good, but there hasn't been good Trek since DS9. (Maaaaybe Voyager, or parts thereof.) And this doesn't show anything meaningful in making a value judgment.

It offers a glimpse at the movie's atmosphere - very important in my opinion. I could really geek out at this point about the state of Earth at this point in the Star Trek time line, but I'll save it for later. biggrin

Can anyone seriously blame me for thinking that a movie starring the original crew played by different actors is total blasphemy?

This goes beyond Star Wars.

We're talking about Star fucking Trek here. I almost needed therapy after enduring Enterprise. I don't care how hard this new movie tries, I just don't see it topping the performance of the original cast. Their portrayal of the characters is what we identify with as much as the characters themselves.

And how far back before ToS is this supposed to be set anyway? Chekov is supposedly in it, yet he didn't come on board the Enterprise until later in the series. Continuity problems ftl?

Like the trailer, but going to want to see some actual footage as well.

Still on the fence, but so far, suspense built is showing good things.

Does not fit with the data anymore since Nemesis came out. My money's on the odd digit-sum theory now.
