I was trying to avoid the "OMG UR SUCH A DICK FOR POINTING OUT THAT I DIDN'T BOTHER TO LOOK ANYWHERE OR USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION" reaction.

All that unpleasant stuff in Darfur is still going on and I don't even know if Afghanistan even exists anymore, but thank fucking god twenty five people are falling over themselves to post about an actor that was in one movie that people will remember vaguely in twenty years.

I don't see how this is any real news. He was a good actor, I suppose, but he wasn't Hopkins or his generation's Christopher Walken. No more tragedy to me than any other person offing themselves. The most I care to wonder is, 'I wonder how the family is taking it.'

It's very bazaar, though. Out of all the people I could think of to die an untimely death, whodu' thunk ol' Heathh?

I was at the movies a few weeks ago, IMAX, and I saw a kick ass preview for a new Batman movie. My friend told me Heath was playing the joker. From what I could tell, it was the best interpretation I had seen and smacked of the almighty Cool Factor. I don't think it's come out yet, but I'm sure it would have put him on the top of the list.

Quite honestly, I never get tied up about these things. But this death is really unsettling for some reason. It just grabs me as very, very odd and uncomfortable.

Give me a break. There will always be unfortunate and tragic situations around the world. Just because there's bad news in one place doesn't mean that people can't feel upset or sorry about bad news somewhere else.

How about we kill your parents and when you come to us crying about how much you miss them, we'll tell you to fuck off and think about the AIDS babies in Africa?

I don't have the energy or the desire to launch into a diatribe about the news-media's coverage of certain subject matter and what that says about our society.

My point is: don't brush off the death of someone who was admired and important to a lot of people simply because you aren't interested or you think there are more important things to worry about.

As much as I appreciate your well thought out straw man, it would be more like if every member of my family scrambled to post it before every other family member and really only used the death to attach their name to an internet sobfest thread without actually having to be an sympathetic human being.

Not that there's anything wrong with being an unsympathetic human being, I would highly recommend it.

I couldn't care less about whether you give a shit about Heath Ledger or his death. It's not that huge a deal to me either. I just think it's funny that a guy who pretty much always posts about unimportant shit is complaining because we're not talking about Darfur (really?!?). Get off your high horse.
