Our entire society is eating disordered.

society tells children they need to be thin. when i was in fifth grade a girl and i compared how thin we were. we had physical fights over who was skinniest. i really cant understand why we did this, looking back. i used to be anorexic, actually im still kind of struggling with it now. society is fucked up, but its not all that is to blame. each person has a choice in the matter of their own bodies, i chose wrong.

This is why you can't get into a public restroom in New York. People locked in there, making themselves throw up.

I think it might just be something wrong with little girls.
Lately, it seems like someone snuck into the factory and replaced the "sugar and spice" etc with the components to make Killer Robot Ninja Zombies. Cause, you know, 9 and 10 year old girls are supposed to be cutting the heads off their barbies and thinking boys have coogties or something, Not joining weight watchers and dressing like hip-hop backup dancers. I blame the lack of high quality violent toys, waning playground violence, and disappearing gender distinction.

Now dont forget the male gender. We're supposed to be hairless, thin, and tall to be considered attractive by the masses. Well my mass says I'm hot skull

I'm moving out of the US the second I can. To somewhere that doesn't treat young girls as potential sex objects....at least, not as much as we do. Body image sucks for women and for men, and I can't believe how sick our society has become on this issue.

Ah, we're NOT supposed to be THIN. We're supposed to be buff or cut or ripped or something. Trust me, I'm naturally thin and have taken flack for it my entire life. "Dude, eat more." "Dude, get off my fucking metabolism."

And we're only supposed to be hairless in the right WAYS. heh. Male pattern baldness is rarely on the top ten list of physical features women are looking for. heh.

I'm gonna go bald.. I know it. The kick in the nuts is the hair that's sprouting elsewhere. wtf? So unfair.

Ok.. I totally digressed. Sorry, I just didn't have anything to contribute to the original topic except: Yeah, that sucks.

PS: Morgan, that sentiment depresses me. Don't you realize that when people like you give up and leave, the society here only gets worse? :/

I'd rather effect change from outside the states, where I'm not miserable with the conditions. Besides which, there's only so much I can do, within or outside of the US.

Doesn't this thread belong in the 'current events' section??

Seems a tad serious for the lifestyle section. That's what I like about it over here. Doesn't just boil down to ranting debate after 3 posts...
