Mine is: If you could invite ten people throughout history to a dinner party, who would you choose?

You can find out a lot about someone by their answer to this question, sometimes even more than you could if you examined their bookshelves. You can also find out a lot about the person just by how they react to being *asked* this question, even if they don't answer it.

I just yammer on and on until they start talking more than I do or I get embarrassed and shut up for awhile. Yeah, I talk a lot when I'm nervous. Usualy I want to know if they smoke or if they mind if I do. Mostly, I like to know what kinds of books they read. They must read.
