What is the BIG deal about The Big Lebowski

I completely disagree. I like the movie, not because it's a completely mind-blowing movie on any level, but because it's so laid-back and smooth. The story's not very coherent; it meanders from scene to scene, but that's the charm, because it fits the Dude's character perfectly. He blunders through life, his only loyalties to himself, his bowling partners and his white russians. He's so laid-back, ineffectual and ultimately worthless, which only makes it funnier as he has to deal with everyone else, especially Walter. It's over the top, but the whole thing isn't structured to make sense or be believable. It's just an "epic" story about the world's biggest slacker, with some of the best dialogue ever. That's the charm, and if that's not the kind of movie you like, then that's just not the kind of movie you like. There's nothing phony about us who like it.

How could anyone hate the Big Lebowski? I mean the Dude is the man! That movie is hilarious! I think that is John Goodmans best role ever!

The Dude and the other main characters defy convention. Most moveez involve characters that are either representative of ideal traits and types of folks, or bad guys that people shouldn't want to be like. The dude and his pals are just regular fuck ups like most of us, so the movee strykes a chord with alot of people.

I loved this movie. Why? Well I see a lot of myself in the Dude, lazy, anal, shallow, psychotic friends and the ability to crack jokes at the most inappropriate time. The humor is sharp and witty and it's just so well acted. So yeah, that's why I loved it.

It's the cinematography.
