OLD SKOOL

...it's a word that gets thrown around pretty carelessly these days.

In your opinion, what makes something truly vintage?

It's our fixation with cultural trends and how they relate to the passage of decades that has the most to do with it. Nostalgia is just a by-product. People want to feel identified to a particular time and place. My mom likes clothes from the 40's thru the 60's. She owns a vintage shop and they seem to mostly focus on this 30-year period. It's a large enough stretch of time that your'e also appealing to a large demographic of the population. That's probably more than you needed to hear. Thanks for listening.

It has to smell old. Not necessarily in a bad way.

soooo....
i'm an antique dealer. in my business the technical answers are:
An item which is at least 100 years old and is collected or desirable due to rarity, condition, utility, or some other unique feature is an "antique".
Anything less than 100 years olds, but older than 25 years is considered "vintage".

toy dealers are the WORST at throwing this phrase around.
