Porn vs. Erotica

Erotica is a boring and pretentious failed attempt at porn.
Porn is an offensive and crude failed attempt at erotica.

It's all in the eye of the beholder.

It's always seemed to me that the distinction is tied up in intent, like in the pornography v. art debate.

Erotica is meant to have some value beyond pure masturbatory fodder. It certainly intends to be sexual and even a turn on, but in a slightly more tactful way perhaps than non-stop beaver shots as I believe that someone already pointed out.

Erotica, one might say, is stylized pornography.

Soft-core pornography is not the same thing incidentally. That's just porn made censor-friendly for HBO/Cinemax collectives.

A movie that I would actually consider to fall under Erotica... there aren't many, sadly to say, because a serious treatment of sexuality present in an alluring way is not exactly a common thing in the Holywood machine. Most seem to be either exploitive or brutal.

Erotica is a more acceptable word than porn
beside that i see no difference between the two.
Sum people in the art world consider pictures of fisting as erotica if done tastefully if that is possible

hey lets go see that porn exhibit in the city. i think the word porn would conjure up images of dirty old man with there hands down their pants to the art enthusiast and public.
