Ok, I don't much go in for the Mac vs PC wars, mainly because I only pretend to know anything about PCs, and, due to the fact that I was raised on PC and have had about twenty seconds of experience with a Mac, Apple computers mystify me, but this clip had me laughing quite a bit.

That was a long run-on sentence.

Frustrated Mac User

Oh, and I did a search and couldn't find this posted. It probably has been posted before, because it's old, but damned if I know where.

i can personally feel this guy's pain, having done some video editting on mac. it's really funny...i have a few friends that are die-hard mac fanboys, and yet all they ever talk about is how fucked up their computers are. i just don't get it.....

Yeah, Macs have their problems. What I don't get, though, is why whenever I start talking about Macs with anyone, in any context, a random nearby PC user has to immediately start slagging on the things for the limited software selection or the slower clock speedsd or whatever.

Maybe Mac users butt in the same way whenever two PC users try to talk, but I've never seen it.

Oh man, I love that thing. The file is gone! It's true.

But I love my mac, ever since I started using OSX. My new computer hasn't crashed since I got it. It's fucking great.

Well, as I sit here in front of both a Mac and PC, I gotta say that while funny, most of that was a load of crap.

Basically his complaints boil down to:
-I know how to do advanced stuff on a PC, but not a Mac.
-I don't like the GUI
-I throughput massive amounts of data for a living which is going to tax the resources of absolutely any system including CGI sunsites that run UNIX

The fact is that performing routine operations, Jaguar is as close to bulletproof as any operating system has ever gotten. My Macs don't lock up. Ever. When I install software or hardware, it works, out of the box, as promised. Neither of these are true of my PCs, which is why nobody is fool enough to edit on a windows platform in the first place.

Is there supposed to be video with that? With the fucked up Windows Media Player, all I got was audio.

If he wasn't such an overexcited butthole he wouldn't have those problems.

I've recently switched back to PC, and every Mac user is acting like I just voted Bush and then bought an SUV. Mac's are good for two things: strict graphic design and video editing. It has awesome graphics capabilities and drivers. AVID on a Mac is awsowme, but it is advised to have about 250 gigs of external memory on hand.

Much of the bitching I hear about is Pre Jaguar OS X. I used OS9 and rarely had a problem. Then I upgraded to 10 and I crashed just about every hour and only in the presense of a client, right after I assure them that I know what I'm doing.

Owning a Mac is like owning a foreign car. There's the chic allure, but changing something as commonplace as alternator, and the time and cost is three times than a domestic.

PC's have their issues. First is the damn operating systems that is so gadget ridden that you have to go into Save Mode and tweak you registry so you don't a dialogue box telling you to upgrade to this or send a report on that. But that's the differnece, PC's are easier to maintain and troubleshoot, and XP is really good at walking you through issues.

Also, as a web designer, I've noticed every designs on Mac, but everyone uses PC. After you design, you have to check it on PC to make sure it looks right. If you are a programmer, PC is a must since almost all UNIX servers are Microsoft 2000 or better.

Its up to the user. I got a Gateway notebook and I've done fine by it, and I use it 12 hours a day without issue.

Revised: PC is usually what most programmers use, since almost all server uses Mircrosoft shit. I am a newbie when It comes to back end stuff, but I've been buggering around with an Apache Server and MySQL.

Not to start a fight or anything, but this just isn't true. The PC version of Avid has been outselling the Mac version for awhile. Especially when the choice was OS9 vs. Win2k, frankly that's not much of a choice.

I use a PC at home, but i had a job where I had to work with macs for over a year.

I prefer PC, I like me some right clicking.
I like the easier to use interface.
I like that my case doesnt look like it came out the ass of a unicorn.

Macs do have some advantages, but to me the advantages are just not worth the trouble.

(PS I do LOVE apple.... *drool* iPod.... just hate the mac's OS so it isnt just me being biased against the company.)

The only problem with a Mac that I can see. Exept for their latest G5, which you have to pay around $4000 for, Macs are slower then a PC for the money.
