Wasn't sure where else to discuss this topic. I'm sure I'll cop typical internerd-style flaming if it's highly inappropriate.

Most SGs and members have style, and you're all pretty bad-ass when it comes to hair styling and colouring. Let's discuss that, specifically relating to bleaching.

I've got black hair right now, and I want to lighten some key parts of it for some peek-a-boo highlights. I really want to avoid bleaching if I can, my trainee hairdresser sister-in-law sort of killed my fringe (bangs for you fancy American folk) a few months ago, and I'd like to let my hair heal as much as possible before it touches the stuff again.

I've seen stuff like the MYHD Colour Remover around, and was wondering if any of you kids have come across it, or any other colour removers? And how successful have they been (keeping in mind my hair is pretty darn dark)?

Color remover does not lighten hair, it reduces the amount of dye in hair. It does not take you back to your natural color, either. If you've dyed your hair black, the best you will get with a color remover is usually an orangey-brown. It'll be fine if all you want to do is lighten key areas a bit to re-dye them red or something, but you're not going to get blond streaks or anything without bleach.

You're better off in the

Uff, I always go to a hair colorist to dye my hair, you should do that, specially if you want some highlights.

That's where I learned all about color remover. That stuff is awesome. smile

But yeah, you'll get pro-level advice in Suicide Salon, rather than advice from someone who's taken advice from pros. Heh.
