Haleiwa is one of my favorite spots in all of Oahu. I would recommend Kamikaze Sushi, an all outdoor sushi place where you sit at tradtional knee high tables and sit lotus style on zabutons. Also, for the best Nachos on the island, try Cholo's. Good Margarita's too.
Oh I'm sooo jealous you're in HI - Nobu sounds beyond wonderful, I haven't made it there yet....However, I did have one of the most amazing dinners ever at La Mer in Waikiki - unbelievable service, great views and classic French food that was impeccable....chk it.
