wait you mean to tell me that meat is about to become as genetically modified as soy beans and other forms of agriculture?

NNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess us meat eaters are now on par with the vegans in regards to our consumption and support of GMO's.

(no I'm not kidding)

Maybe this is why the answer isn't "be vegan", or "stop eating meat, join PETA, and threaten to kill people who consume our furry friends". But rather,

Start growing your own food.
Buy local produce.
Hunt meat, gut it, cook it and eat it (even if your vegan, you'll find it will stop those bones from snapping at those awkward moments)

Mass agriculture is bad no matter what cellular form the product is made up of. There is no easy answer here.
If you really care you'll do more then simply pick a counter culture label (take a guess it starts with V and ends with "egan"). Such labels only really indicate one's ignorance of the broader scope of the problems involved in the 21st century human's consumption of food.

The real answer here is that if you can't fucking KILL IT yourself, or GROW IT yourself, then you should just stop eating everything, give up, accept your fate, and starve yourselves! Death through hunger strike really is the only ethical choice in regards to avoiding this shit without getting your hands dirty. It's the truth whether we want to accept it or not.

people freak out over genetically modified or cloned food, without realizing what it really means when they eat it. Absolutely nothing. Its not like its been doused in chemicals. for some reason, people seem to think that if science has touched it, its dangerous and causes cancer.

sssssshhhhhhhh,
don't tell anyone that.
just say "vegan"
it will all be O.K.

Science is bad, we must return to the earth goddess, it is the only way. wink

Meh. I shop at the farmer's market, and generally try to avoid GMO's. I'm a veggie so the meat thing has no effect on me. I agree with what heresy2007 says above that mass agriculture in any form is bad news. It's been killing local farmers for a long time now, and it needs to stop.

Humans have been genetically engineering their food for centuries through selective breeding. The gene pool of our livestock has been so fucked up for years that cloning isn't that huge of a jump in reality.

Besides your average simpleton has no clue about where their food comes from, so to the vast majority of people stuff like this is a non issue.

I'm all for population growth as long as i live to see the zombie plague caused by rampant genetic tinkering and kill me some dead heads!
All our population problems solved and my dreams of the zombpocalypse fulfilled... talk about two birds with one stone!

If they can grow it in pre formed tubes, then all the power to them. It won't destroy as much farm land. However it may allow for further growth of the human population. Which pretty much fucks the earth over any way you shape it.

Now I hate the Greatful Dead as much as the next guy, but do we really have to start killing off dead heads? It's not their fault that they're hopelessly addicted to 15 minute jams. I'm sure we can start some rehab program for them instead.

I wish they could clone meat without the nervous system of an animal. Maybe stimulate muscle tone with electrodes or something. Then we'd be getting somewhere.

Without nerve tissue to cause the musculature to contract in response to the electrodes' outputs, those same electrodes aren't really going to be effective.

Maybe something to replace the nerve tissue's function, but if someone can come up with a replacement for that, they'll probably have a few more important things to do with it than hooking it up to cloned cow flanks.

Good point. And really you need blood vessels and a heart to pump the blood. I just don't want it to have a brain. It could just be a big delicious filet on life support. Yum.

What's more important than that?

Myomer-based synapse-linked battlemech exoskeletons.

AFF! how else will i and my clan crush you freebirth scum?!?

As long as it tastes good and doesn't give me cancer I don't really give a shit.

Or at least gives me an equal or lesser amount of cancer than the meat I'm already eating. Less would ve nice.

I concur.

I'd rather keep all the natural meats Stateside and export the cloned stuff. Dunno what eating that junk will do to a body, and I don't want to be the one to find out. But I still want to find out. *mad glee*

You know, causing hysteria like this that cuts down on food production for the people who are starving basically makes you a real piece of shit.
