Most of you probably think that "The View" is unwatchable and its very existence inconsequential but I disagree (at least with the inconsequential part.) I watch lots of TV shows where people discuss current events by talking over each other (alternative choices are slim) so that's not my issue with "The View".

My issue with that show is that Sherri Shepherd is free to spout factually incorrect non-truths such as, "Jesus pre-dates everything."

Joy Behar was innocently talking about the ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus and his ideas on how to attain happiness. Whoopi pointed out that this was before the whole Jesus thing and then Sherri Shepherd put in her whacked out two cents.

Not everyone is a news junkie, or a reader. I'm sure there are some people who get their cultural and political tidbits from "The View". The show should be somewhat accountable to the viewers. What if the show actually taught people how to have discussions around religion that didn’t devolve into arguments, hurt feelings or people turning into children? I know I'm asking too much.

Imagine that you share the belief that Jesus pre-dates everything. Imagine that due to your lack of intelligence and reason, you have an emotional connection (like Sherri) to your belief in a non-truth. Don’t you deserve to be shown the facts instead of another dumb-ass who will validate your wrong opinion?

Why did Whoopi back down from Sherri? Why in a discussion about Epicurus (who lived around 300 B.C.) did she say to Sherri, "I think this pre-dates that."

Think? You think? Why the kid gloves? It's not an opinion that B.C. stands for "Before Christ" and therefore an ancient Greek philosopher's notions about happiness DO pre-date Jesus. It's fact. And Joy just backs down claiming that it's all irrelevant because Epicurus believed in polytheism. Who cares? That’s not the point. Sherri just said that entire generations of people never existed and no one says, "Listen, you dumb fuck…"

I actually feel badly for Sherri. She looks like a very scared child behind that desk, tapping her fingers and saying, "Well, Jesus pre-dates all of them." I can see the wheels turning in her head. "Is it bad for me to possibly learn something new right now? Will I go to Hell? Is it against my religion? Are they ganging up on me? What would Jesus do?" And she actually says, "I don’t want to get into a religious argument." What argument would there be? There are facts and there are opinions. You're not allowed to have the opinion that Jesus invented humans. He didn’t!

How is the belief that "Jesus came first" even on par with the story of Christianity? Jesus was Jewish. There was no Christianity until long after he was dead. I seem to remember learning that Jesus came to deliver a message to people that were already in existence. As wacky as it may sound that he was supposedly born of a virgin… try to wrap your mind around the fact that that virgin didn’t exist until Jesus did! What? Sherri, you're blowing my mind!

It's so sad. If you're going to commit to believing in and following a religion at least get your story straight. I'm not arguing what Jesus did and did not do or whether he exists as a person or a man-God or a centaur. Would Jesus mean any less to Sherri Shepherd if he hadn't been the first person? If so, what kind of purpose does religion serve her?

What scares me is that Sherri Shepherd is in her living room right now giving herself a home-facial and acting as if nothing is wrong in her brain. I thought for sure the next day that Barbara Walters would walk on set and say, "I'm sorry. I broke too many barriers for women in media to have you saying on my show that the first humans hit the planet only 2007 years ago. Sherri, it's not sacrilegious to think that people existed before Jesus. In fact, it's called The Old Testament."

But Babs was silent and Sherri, who is famous for no reason, gets to keep talking and doing her stupid giveaways.

I think it was Woody Allen in Annie Hall who said, "I'm a fascist…for the left." I feel that way sometimes. I feel like you should get a fine from the FCC for arguing your opinion against fact or you should be forced to do a PSA on whatever it is that you were wrong about. I hope that if there is a Jesus and he is coming back that he does it on "The View". I hope when Sherri runs over to him he gives her a 'talk to the hand' gesture and then a history lesson. I'm sure he'd end up forgiving her though. Jesus makes me so mad sometimes.

That was amazing . The really frightening thing is she's probably just sort of floated through her life with out a care in the world . And now she's on TV to say whatever she feels like saying no matter how inane it may be . Holy shit indeed .

You know, I was going to [point out/bring up] the whole concept of logos and the belief that many Christians hold, that the persona of the Saviour emanated first, blahetc...

Let's not forget, this is the same idiot who, on the same show, could not answer the question: "Is the world was flat?"

I'm surprised she's not running for president... she's retarded, a minority, and female - the perfect combination of what we're used to with Bush and something just different enough for the fundies to make a weak argument for her.

"But - she's black! And a woman! I thought you liberals liked diversity??"

Frankly, I'm just tired of high-profile stupid people. I want somebody smart in the news, and not because they killed some people. Somebody needs to cure cancer or something so we can actually think happy thoughts.

I feel nauseous after reading this article. It makes me physically ill to hear idiots like this biblical "scholar" Sherri Shepherd talk. Scholar? Really?

Yet again, just another proof of the Wizard's First Rule: People are stupid. They will believe any lie, either because they want it to be true or because they are afriad it is.

And it's a sad commentary on how our society is so ingrained to avoiding conflict in social situations that we will let stupidity and ignorance pass on it's dangerous, merry way.

It makes my head hurt to think how many Americans like this exist. It's like this weird society where sane and delusional people co-exist. And I don't even feel like the sane people run the place.

I figure that if you're going to believe in something, you need to know all of the facts behind it. But myself and those like me are obviously in the minority, since there are so many people in this world who spit out crap like Sherri.

I cry every time the "this country was founded on Christianity, many of our founding fathers were Christians!" argument comes up.

Apparently she isn't even familiar with her own religious scripture.
There is an entire book before Jesus shows up and turns shit into food.

People like her scare me, not because they are wrong, but because they BELIEVE they are right to such a degree that they argue their point in the face of the truth. She would probably argue that the sky is yellow if she were in the middle of a field in Kansas under a cloudless sky, and when someone asked her "why do you say it's yellow?" she would reply "because thats the color of Jesus's arua. Someone should make sure she doesn't breed.

Whatevs, haters. Sherri Shepherd knows all. You just can't handle her "truths."

Ok, less sarcastically, Sherri Shepherd's comments are really quite stupid. Especially this one:

You're not allowed to have the opinion that Jesus invented humans. He didn't!

Oh wait...

Nope. That's what she was trying to think, but she failed. She's clearly trying to say there where Christians before there were Greeks.
