Y'all might or might not remember that my first post for this site was about Plan B. Plan B is birth control, not an abortifacient (if you have any doubts, go read that post), it's a fucking lifesaver if you've ever had a condom break, gotten lazy with the birth control, or (god forbid) been raped, and basically it belongs in your medicine cabinet.

Light Rail Coyote is an admirable grad student who somehow also works for the Academy for Educational Development and is therefore a better model for engaged academia than yours truly ever has been. In any case, she wrote me to ask if I'd ask you all to please take a brief survey about your use of Plan B if you've used it in the last year and are between the ages of 18-44.

Needless to say, the survey is entirely confidential. You can skip questions you don't want to answer, or if none of the available options is correct. (And there's a comments section towards the end.)

A little more about the AED and the survey itself:

Plus when you're done you can enter a drawing to win a $150 Target gift certificate.

(By the way, if you have a Target card and haven't signed up to have them give X% of your purchases to some local school, please do. If you don't have a kid, just pick a random school, preferably the poorest one in town.)

I'm kinda disappointed with this article, I was hoping to see something about right wing extremists opposing plan b again, so I could go on a rant.

I do have a rant about plan B...

once they made it OTC, it went from $10 a pill to $50.
And now my healthcare providers won't prescribe it at prescription prices since it's available OTC.

That is a reason to rant...

And I love that you seem to be familiar with obtaining Plan B... sexually responsible dudes are hawt.

funny because target allows its pharmacists to refuse to dispense plan b.

are you serious? do you know any of the details? i wonder what they base their refusals on... hmmm.

My girlfriend used it once and I am thankful for it. The folks at planned parenthood actually gave her another, along with a year supply of birth control and more condoms then you can shake your fist at. I love that place.

Maybe they have their own survey.

"Would you, as a reluctant mother, purchase your baby supplies at Target? Y/N"

Then, if you mark "yes" they refuse you.

Despite the amount of money I'm saving on birth control, I really need to get laid.

this was in the news awhile ago. i assume that is still their policy as i have not heard anything about it changing. i love the crap out of target aside from this, don't get me wrong, it's just kind of ironic and i would never use their pharmacy for any prescriptions.

I used it in May for the first time (despite the fact that I have been on birth control for 5 years) because I've always wanted to know what it was like to have a guy come inside, but was always too scared to go through with it.

thanks to plan B, I now know it's nothing special and I can quit obsessing over it.

Just once. The lady that sold it to me kept giving me this odd look--still can't figure out why...

The odds of preventing pregnancy with birth control are not perfect, so you are not paranoid. If you have a dr or are anywhere near a clinic you should be able to get one for the cabinet. I have it in mine despite being on the mini-pill.

Go to Planned Parenthood, you are in California so you can get on what is known as the State Funded Program if you make under 1,750 a month. Or if you are on a type of health insurance then you may have it prescribed and can be paid for by said insurance (e.g. Medi Cal, Blue Cross Medi Cal, Western Health Advantage, etc.)

On the state funded program you can get up to 13 months of a birth control method and Plan B's. Not too mention the fact that we are still offering Birth Control at it's old price and not at the new 900% increase.

It works but i was out for a day......made me sick and in bed.....in CA once you get the pill for the first time...you are in the "system" and can go back 3 more times without a prescription.

I've used it like 3 times...and I have one sitting there somewhere in my room...hopefully I'll never need to use it. Poop on the pharmaceutical industry.
