I really really like tons of Soy products but milk has been the one thing I juat haven't been able to replace. Soy milks of all kinds just seem like turgid mud water to me frown

Vitasoy Vanilla is the best, creamiest, least beany soy milk there is. God bless Vitasoy.

Dean Foods owns Silk. They are one of (if not the) largest dairly companies in the US of A. Being vegan, I don't drink Silk so that i don't support the dairy industry.

I am not a vegie' or anything but I love soy milk! Yeah some brands taste like crap and I was told that males souldn't drink too much of the stuff because it helps the body produce female hormones? can anyone back that up?

you're thinking of phytoestrogens, and that is pretty much a myth. phytoestrogens are similar enough to estrogen to be accepted by estrogen receptors in the body, but this effect is weak, and not only that, it may actually block estrogen uptake in the body to a small degree. (yes, men produce estrogen too.) i wouldn't worry about it.

oh yeah, and vitasoy is definitely the best, but you should also try almond milk if you don't like the soy. blue diamond has a chocolate almond milk that tastes just like chocolate milk, except without the foul, rotten mouth feeling you taste after drinking cow milk.

8th Continent tastes great. It freaks me out, though, that its parent company is DuPont Chemical - seriously. They also admit, in a roundabout way, to using genetically modified ingredients. Plenty of other companies do, too, of course, but if you're looking at soy milk for health reasons, maybe 8th Continent needs to be second guessed.

I'm a big fan of Silk Chocolate, especially in coffee.

Lately, I've tried soy and almond milk from Pacific, and both were pretty good. The almond was really sweet, of course, but I don't remember if it had lots of sugar in it as well. Pacific seems like an okay company.

It strikes me as funny that this is brought up so much.

It's not that other species won't drink it because it's gross, it's because they'd get their ass handed to them by the angry mother they tried to get the milk from.
Stick some milk in front of you average cat and see what happens.

I only drink expired cow milk. It has to be at least eight days off to have the proper clotting and color changing.
Remeber that old sci-fi/cop flick 'Alien Nation'. The aliens would drink expired milk to catch a buzz. It doens't really get you drunk, I just find it delicious.

Old thread bump. whatever

What are some of the classic symptoms of soy allergies? I recently started using soymilk in my organic cereal (in addition to eating dry roasted soybeans and fresh soybeans), and now I have this wierd rash that is freaking me out big time. frown

Yup, it's soy juice. Unless someone is milking a soy bean somewhere. In which case, they've got issues.

Well, I was hoping to hear first hand from someone who has had those kinds of reactions before. I already saw the WebMD page, but thanks for trying to help.

well, of course. have you ever seen a cat sucking a dog or a rabbit sucking a pig or any other strange furry-scenario-fertile situation like that? .

Why yes, yes I have.
Would you prefer pigs on tigers or tigers on pigs ?

I KNOW it's only me (I've asked around) but I've always kind of felt that soy milk tastes like semen. I dunno why.

no. i think it tastes like semen with sugar in it. i will eat and drink almost anything, but i've never gotten the hang of soy milk. i think it's textural. i drink thick, thick organic whole milk. soy milk is like sweet, weird water to me.

have you tried rice milk? chainlink, if you care, i take back everything bad i ever said about you. those are funny pictures. i think milk is milk, in that it has calcium, potassium and magnesium, regardless of the mammal it comes from, no? everything any young mammal needs to grow strong bones, muscles and tissues. as adults, we need it less and less, and there are healthier sources of all three. then as we get older, we need more of them again, but nothing can stop bone-degenration. insert quip here.
