I work at a well known video store not in the best part of town and I get lots of requests for movies in which the titled is slaughtered. Below is what I was asked for and the movie they probably wanted.

Cradle of the Dead2-Cradle 2 The Grave
Cradle 2 Da Rock 2-Cradle 2 The Grave
Da Monk-Bulletproof Monk
Agent 11-See Spot Run
Okay this next one is hard to spell but it's close to what she asked for. I'm still proud of myself for figuring it out.
Insyeanator-Scorpion King
Troys-Trois (pronounced like Twa)
Nightmare on 34th Street-Nightmare on Elm Street or possibly Miracle on 34th Street
Wesley Snipes New Nightmare-Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Girls Is Crazy-Girls Gone Wild (which we don't carry).

I was hoping this was going to be an indiana jones thread.

if you have been on the ride at disneyland you know what I am talking about.

ok so whenever I got into music stores for some reason customers decide to come to me to help them find what they are looking for instead of the people who work there. Anyhoo one time a middle aged, upper class caucasian lady came up to me asking if I knew of a female artist who's name began with an "E" and was something like Evie or Eva...I immediately though Eve (she might listen to EVE, you never know) but she said no when I showed her the CD...then DUH! ENYA! so I showed her enya's CD and it was what she was looking for.

Ok from just E or evie to ENYA...I'm pretty proud of myself.

I work a a video store too and I always love to play that game. Im pretty good at it, as I suppose you are also since you have deciphered all of the idiot customer code. I still think the most annoying one to date, although not the funniest, was when Don't say a word came out and every fucking person that came through that door couldnt remember the name of the movie be felt it was necessary to say "I'll never tellllllllllll" in the most shrieking voice possible. Fucking customers. My favorite movie is quickly becoming Falling Down.

Oh HELL yeah. I got the I'll Never Tellll thing a lot too. A couple of days ago I had this older lady ask for "The kung-fu movie with the lady". I just walked off. I didn't even reply.

I also get asked if we have that Angry Movie yet-they are asking for Anger Management (I watched it last night-it's boring and not funny in the least).
Region of Fire instead of Reign of Fire was another.

Awww, this thread brings back memories. I worked at an indie video store for three years in college, and can't count the number of times people actually asked me for "that movie with that one guy/girl in it." Yep.

And this is why Kevin Smith is a god in my world, and why "Clerks" will never leave my top ten. tongue

Edited 'cuz my tongue smiley didn't show up the first time.

THANK YOU! I thought I was the only person who didn't think Anger Management was funny...I love Jack, I love Adam, but I don't love this movie.

I worked in a video store once. I didn't really get too many interesting title-guesses like yours. I remember one time there was this Russian woman whose voice I couldn't understand at all, except when she said a certain actor's name. The request went something like:
"Myuussh nesshh osshh un Richard Gere? I gnaii Richard Gere. Dnoo hnuush Richard Gere movies?"
I replied something like: ".........um yes, we have Richard Gere movies."

Well it was something like: in-sigh-uh-nay-tor
I thought at first she was asking for Insomnia because that was new and people were slaughtering that title.
Then she said it had Arnold in it so I thought Collateral Damage but it ended up being Scorpion King. People are strange. confused

I know this thread is pretty much dead (hey that rhymed) but I was posting a reply on another thread and I thought of one more movie request I think is noteworthy.
I had a lady ask me for O Brother Where Are They?

working at an indy video store the best cuz they sometimes give you a shelf where you can put your favorite movies and foist them on strangers. people give up and make a bee-line straight for it. did someone already say that? well, i feel better anyhow.
