I hope someone can help me find a small Christmas present for my grandma. She had asked me a few different times to look up online where she can get american made stuff, mostly clothing and cookware. She does not have a computer, she used to, but didn't know how to search. She would just always type in the exact website she wanted to go to. ..which is why she calls me at different times and asks me to look things up for her. I have completely given up on finding a store in my area where she could go, so a catologue is the only other option. I told her that everything I found did not offer a catologue but just offered ordering items online. darn. I really want to be able to get her a catologue as a small Christmas present. I really hope this doesn't end up as a debate thread about products made in China. I just want to get my grandma what she wants. Thanks to anyone who can help.
PS. I'd also like to add that she is not a frail old rich republican granny. I think I may have made her sound like that with the computer thing..She is a vocal and proud democrat. She just bought 'I am America and So Can You!' see, she's hip and liberal! also, I hope this was the appropriate spot to put this (?)
You should just ask her if there are any books or movies or music she'd like to have. My grandparents loved getting classic movies and CDs of their favorite artists, because those are things they'd just never think to buy for themselves but very much enjoyed having.
That may be a tough order. I think catalogs are going the way of the dodo (and brick-and-mortar-stores for that matter) in the face of online shopping.
My recommendation would be, if she has the means to afford a computer and internet access, to get her some sort of training program or classes in how to use basic computer applications. I think there are even programs specifically targeted at seniors in teaching them how to use the dreaded "computer machine".
