I can't believe they phased out Bert. New seasame street is like new coke.

They phased out Bert? That's fucking sacriledge.
You know, and it's been going on for years, but everything today is P.C. Police brutality. It's a sad day that a bastion of Early CHildhood education and a sacred cow such as Sesame Street hasn't been spared from the rampant overprotectiveness and absurdity from the aformentioned P.C. Police...

They had to get rid of Don Music because kids were hitting pianos with their heads. Which I did. A bit.

People are getting more and more ridiculous by the day.

"Oh hi! We're going to cause you to shelter your children even more by telling you that something you watched as a child, and have probably grown up to be a decent, socially adept adult, is now no longer suitable for your children(s) viewing pleasure. Remember the sense of community closeness in the shows? No more! You know what? Why don't you just lock your kid in a bubble right now. It will save us all the trouble of finding some other completely idiotic thing to save your children from."

I hate stupid people.

What a slap in the face to Jim Henson. I guarantee whoever it is that decided kids need to be guarded against the content of Sesame Street couldn't create anything remotely engaging.

another view: the henson franchise, upon reviewing the material, decided that SOME of the skits were no longer part of proper parental behavior and decided to proactively declare it not kids viewing rather than worry about lawsuits.

because lawsuits happen in america. a lot.

Dude. I grew up with Sesame Street.

Granted, I was born in 1984, so things were already changing by that time, but...

Dude.

I'm perfectly norma--Okay, I can't say that. But I'm not screwed up because of Sesame Street. I'll guarantee that.

You know. Stuff like this makes me want to find a Republican and punch them in the ear.

I don't think I can add anything someone else hasn't already said at this point, but MAN parenting is getting easy. I remember my Mom used to hit me with a switch when I did something wrong.

This crap continues and eventually "parenting" is going to be reduced to a woman dropping a fetus on the sidewalk, but nothing will be her fault. "society" clearly failed.

Oh that is bullshiiiiit. I watched our version of Sesame Street, and I never had any behaviour disorders because of it... by the way I hate it that they changed Montoya -the mexican cousin of Big Bird- into Abelardo, but that's a different issue.

I swear, if the alternative is that stupid purple dinosaur, I'll keep my cookie monster. Plus he sounds like the vocalist of a metal band.

Man... I remember a good chunk of Sesame Street... and I can't see how it'd be deemed offensive to kids...
Hell, I let my nephew watch The Muppet Show with me when I can... he loves it!
