I spent mine on stickers and jolly ranchers. I remember nagging my mom to drive me to the craft store every week where I'd spend a good half hour looking at each roll of stickers, weighing the options of big, fancy and felty or glittery stickers that were more expensive vs. smaller, plainer ones I could get a whole lot of.
Okay, so, it wasn't allowance in my case, it was babysitting money. Same concept, though.

Im like Vanessa. But i started to work since i was a kid, so sometimes i could bought somethings. usually comic books... and Magic The Gathering... RPG books was on the list too...
I should note, I did steal gum and Little Debbie treats from K-mart and grocery stores on a regular basis because we had no money for such "frivolous" things. So I did have some form of getting things I wanted

There wasn't a store that i couldn't steal from as a child. We also didn't have an allowance growing up. Every blue moon someone would ask me to do some chores and throw me some cash that was about it. Rest of the time i would just steal. It got to the point that i would have to hide stuff at my neighbors house. I'm not sure how I avoided becoming a criminal
We were too poor to afford an allowance for me (seriously, sometimes all I had to eat was a mayo sandwich a day), but when I did get some extra change or so, I would buy comics, very fine fruit punch or campbells vegetarian vegetable soup (I was addicted to it I think).

I thought I was poor as a kid but I'm going to re-evaluate that.
I never had an allowance...my parents believed chores are something children should do to learn responsibility and to help their parents...not because they are rewarded to do it. However, the summer I was 13 I babysat for an 8-month old and a 2 year old every single day from 8am-5pm...made $100 a week...which seemed like SOO much money to me...looking back, I realize that was about $2.50 an hour...to change diapers and get spit up on and chase around the terrible twos. How sad.
Anywho...I spent it on ridiculous stuff. Lots of craft supplies, went to the movies a lot, went to get ice cream with friends...stuff like that.
