I like the first one. I think when a lot of people write poetry, they sometimes use words they wouldn't normally use. And as a result, their writing tends to be a bit too formal. And you can usually tell because the writing doesn't always have a good flow.

One of my favorite things about poetry is being able to have a distinct voice, and either reading or writing a phrase (or maybe even conveying an idea) that has never been expressed in quite the same way. Something new, something different.

I think there are bits in each of those two poems that are different and interesting. But, particularly in the 2nd poem, I think you're being a bit wordy and unoriginal with things like "moonlight hitting a calm sea" and "do not resuscitate my love."

I don't read a ton of poetry, but those lines don't seem very new or particularly original. Then again, it's hard to write something new or interesting about love. Sometimes it seems like all of the good lines have been written. But that's just one man's opinion. Keep writing. smile
