I don't even know what the MLA is, other than a great big oppresive body of unniceness that hovers over my writing and tells me I'm going to hell for improperly citing a webpage. Donkey fornicating candlabra buggerers!

Let me write my own damned way.

I think he was going for some form of Pig Latin so it would rhyme with MLA.

Word. The MLA citing method is actually much easier to deal with than the moldy old footnote method that old-timers like me were taught. Go back to teeny superscript numbers stuck all over the page and endless "ibids"?? No thank you. ARRR!!!

Right now, the RIAA is taking up all my hatred of acronyms. I mean, the MLA hasn't sued any 12 year olds lately. mad

That's because it actually only stands for the Modern Language Association.

Take a creative writing course then. Research papers require standard notation so that you are more easily pushed through the system that is college.

Actually, I prefer Chicago. The MLA is hopelessly antiquated, and I don't have much fondness for APA, either. However, that switch from MLA to Chicago in college was pretty traumatic.

DAMN! I thought you ATE the MLA.
ItÂ’s good that they are still unconsumed; they still need a reasonable standard of citation for electronic sources. But after that, feel free to chow down.
