I find it interesting that all the celebrities you listed hold political opinions contrary to the ones you've stated on this site. I wonder if you would find their "parroting" so objectionable if they agreed with you.

Can you name for me a celebrity that consistently and openly endorses a conservative agenda?

Bruce Willis. Arnold for years. Clint Eastwood. Mel Gibson. Lara Flynn Boyle. Kelsey Grammar. Dennis Miller. James Caviezel. Elisabeth Hallelback. Patricia Heaton. Chuck Norris. Dennis Hopper. Tony Danza. The Rock. James Woods. Pat Sajak.

Any other things you want to say that you are completely wrong about?

Dennis Hopper.

And it's really weird. He used to be one of the hallmarks of the Liberal counterculture.

^^ PantherNesmitt Yep. Hear, hear. Need a hearing aid anyone? "Extraordinary rendition" had even me puzzled, and I actually pay attention to the pols and their wonky Bush-ism verbiages. I've only ever seen this phrase before and that was during the talks about barring Guantanamo from existence. Matter of fact, while reading the whole article it seemed more like a blog than anything of any real interest on the Celebrity side. I also agree with DevilsReject that the general public let alone many SG folks would give an owl's hoot of confidence that ANY celebrity should know such political spectrum words. There is no litmus test for celebs to also be politically savvy. Some just are, some think they are, most seriously are nowhere close to that. While I like the diatribe as the rant that it is (Foamy does rants better), this whole piece might sound better in your journal instead. Sorry? surreal

I don't think anyone is arguing that the issue is obscure, but that the term itself is.

It's very hard to utilize reading comprehension skills when you're busy lookin' up links.

Can't argue with that!

OK guys. I'm trying not to be pissy here.. but....

REESE KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS.
if you read..
It says that her interviewer stated that before her latest film, she may not have known what it was but now she says this about it-
"I don't think I realized what the term was called. The term is not really in the popular vernacular. It sounds like public policy rigamorle. It doesn't sound like anything that you would connect with the torture and detainment of innocent people."

Stop trying to defend the woman for not knowing it.. she knew it.

That is not the point of the story.

I had no clue as to what the phrase meant politically after all neither word if used independently has any common use that would refer to torture or prisoners. In fact I would be curious to know how and why this phrase means what it does and who came up with it. After all if someone would have asked me what it meant I would have probably said an "exceptional performance or recitation"

You had me at "I am still miffed that she showed me up in church on Easter Sunday by cooing over my therapist's baby while I sat there unaffected by the newborn, living, breathing thing. Long story short, I go to a super-progressive church. I believe in evolution and science. I'm a lefty liberal but I did attend an Easter Sunday service."

And by "You had me at" I mean "I stopped reading at".

If only he would. I've been lobbying for an eleventh Commandment for years. It'd shut CoolerKing up, too.

I don't own a television and spend most of my day reading. I could not have told you what "extraordinary rendition" meant.

There are much worse things celebrities can do that be ignorant of obscure phrases.

I don't know if it's because of the wine or what, but I had a thought...

Maybe we're all part of some online reality show called "So You Think You Can Write" and we're watching the William Hung-esque flops first before we get to the real talent.
