Except for the part where she made up a name for the store in order to manufacture outrage over an act of sexism that didn't actually exist.
I love reading all of Bitch_PhD's articles. They make me feel like a genius for having even the most basic online researching skills. She's like a shrill Wikipedia that doesn't even bother to correct its mistakes.
they already did this it was called THE EXPO. but there ex CEO fucked it up. so now they are trying again. and when it comes time to renovate i will buy my supply's at Home Depot then go to the design center to make my new renovations have nice decor. because the tiny ass decor departments aren't big enough to stock 90% of the stuff you want. everything needs to be special ordered. pain in the ass. i think they should take appliances, kitchens, decor, out of the Home Depot and most of flooring and mill work out....just keep the stuff you need to do the construction. that would make more room for all the other departments so they could actually stock what people need. what if pluming was twice as big and had that odd fitting you need or paint had more variety, or electrical had the right switch. now that would be great. do i loose credibility cause i work there? even if i think they suck.

I really don't feel like creating an account at 'Contra Costa Times,' So I cannot read the original article cited in the opinion piece to make a decision on whether or not the article poster is genuinely offended, easily offended, or just seeking to inflame self-righteous indignation among the girl-power nation at Suicide Girls Dot Com.
So, I will just give an opinion of my own to counter:
I don't go to Home Depot because it is dirty and there is no customer service. It's a horrible place where checking out with a bag of bolts takes at least 30 minutes. As far as I can tell, ALL Home Depot stores are the same. I am pretty sure that their corporate office gets complaints about it all the time.
That being said, I would rather go to the so-called 'Her Depot' and I wouldn't feel the slightest bit strange about it being a heterosexual male of Christian Protestant Northern European descent. I think I fail to see how this is so incredibly patronizing as the author seems to think it is.
If the name is indeed 'Her Depot'...well, that's a pretty stupid name, and I would probably find that patronizing if I was a woman. I don't think the store is a bad idea, though.
Here is one I didn't need an account to pull up...
And here is one from a different source altogether.
hmm Home Depot is designing a store mostly for female customers...and people are saying it's sexist against women. Kind of like passing a law saying ppl only with A type blood can vote and ppl with A type blood say it's discriminating against them.
If anything it is clearly discriminating against males, because if they tried to open a type of store designed mostly for males every feminist and there second cousins would be up in arms..
I really don't see anything grossly offensive going on. There's a point to be made about them stereotyping consumers, but there's no real sexist behavior going on that can't be sorted by simply taking your business to a competitor.
When I need hardware related stuff I visit Rona, which is probably just in Canada, but I get good service, even when I do something like bring a tattoo machine in to ask what kind of a wrench I need to tune it. Of course their line of ads with ordinary non-Tool Time men mentally psyching themselves up to fix the house by chanting the mantra "I am a handyman" includes several ones with women saying "I am a handywoman, I can do this" in response to things like the pipes bursting or bathroom tiles falling off.

Oh, right. She just didn't bother to do even the most fundamental research on a piece of "reporting" that she signed her name to. But just for the sake of holding myself to the standard that I'd like to see BPD hold herself to, let me revise that:
"Except for the part where she falsely reported a made-up name for the store in order to manufacture outrage over an act of sexism that didn't actually exist."
