Because you can take the kid out of the Bible belt, but you can't take the Bible belt out of the kid.
Once you indoctrinate/brainwash a kid into something at an early age, and have him accept it as a truism and the "way it is" he usually stays that way for life, making more little christians along the way.
Adults are impossible to mold the same way past a certain age.

You must not know a lot of people who went to Catholic school.

Actually, a better alternative to Halo 3 right now, I think anyway, is Bioshock. Waaayyyy cooler, actually!
I'm thinking about trying that out. Has anybody tried it with CrossOver on OS X?

true, true. i went to church from like birth to 18ish, and even though i currently don't go to church and haven't for 7 years or so a lot of that stuff still sticks with me. I highly doubt I will be making any new christians though. not that i think church is bad, or awful... well maybe on some levels.
you know, i guess the only reason i wouldn't make little christians is because i don't go to church and have no real desire to go to church or change my evil ways. I wouldn't want to take a kid, have them learn some good jesus stuff in Bible School, and then have them ask questions about me drinking, or any of the other nonchristian habts i have. I mean, i would want to set a good godly example if i was taking my kid to a place where they were preaching about doing this, and not doing that.
I mean when my kids become teenagers they might ask me why i don't vote republican, start rummaging through my porn, and getting into stuff i wouldn't want them getting into that i may have around the house, and you know what... i guess i would rather just not confuse the poor bastards anymore than life is already going to confuse them, and i think that is all that would happen but if they wanted to play halo at church when they are teenagers, then sure, go fucking nutz future kid.
Strange bedfellows, huh? A violent video game and religion. But it's true
Damn, you ever play "The Crusades" Wicked sick FPS where you could swords and use siege weapons to destroy all these godless brown people. Only bad part was you needed to really focus on armor upgrades since there ZERO spawn point once you died!
Wait... so does this mean that when I have kids, I can use Silent Hill 2 to teach them about the birds and the bees?
Or Starfox to get them to eat their vegetables?

there's a difference between catholics and southern christians. thank god.

You needed to be REALLY good
or how about the current sad excuses for wars we've got? just like Ghost Recon with way better graphics.
the current random insurgent and IED dismemberment features are totally rad!
Besides, all the kids want is to get laid ASAP, and as often as possible. And last time I checked, that's against nearly every religious doctrine on the planet (I'm unsure about Discordianism--can someone check that?)

The odd thing to me about this is that most overt references to religion in the Halo games are uniformly negative.
The Covenant are depicted as religious fanatics who will risk destroying all sentient life in the universe in order to fulfill a religious prophecy. Breaking away from that mindless form of religious fervor is presented as a redeeming feature in Halo 2 and 3.
but thats what the evangelicals want the end of the world. so it works I guess
