Terminator 2, came out 7 years after the first Terminator and it was a pretty good sequel to a cult movie. Just saying, it can be done.

I thought Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey was awesome! Who didn't like the Slaughter video at the beginning? haha!

Anyway, everytime I see Feldman, I always think of his Edgar Frog character. In some way, he reminds me of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters!

As much as I'd love to see a great sequel to the Goonies I don't think they should do it. I don't think I would even watch it if they did. It sounds great at first but the more I think about it, the more I think it will not work.

Christ, why not just clean up the film and re-release the original in theaters? It would cost a less, and probably make more money since it's awesome, while the sequel would almost certainly suck balls.

really, the goonies dvd is well worth whatever price you saw it for. its not just that you get:

CLEAR DVD COLORS!!

THE FULL CYNDI LAUPER VIDEO!!!

THE FULL OCTUPUS SCENE AND MANY OTHER CUT SCENES!!!

but the commentary is actually amazing. for 3/4 of the movie, its video of the cast in 2001 at a table, watching themselves when they were in puberty and making wisecracks, telling silly production stories. and they are genuinely having fun watching it.

in that commentary, they throw the idea of G2 out there, something about the goonies have grown up, and thier kids (marty, weve got to do something about your kids!) finding something at data's electronic repair store that sends them on another goonie adventure.

OH WHAT THE HELL!!!!
 You have got to be kidding me.

I think we may have a new winner for "Worst Sequel Ever." T3 was bad; I shudder to think how it can get worse.

Theyve been threatening my childhood with Goonies 2 for years now. Everytime theyve gotten the ball rolling on the sequel, it falls through. This isn't the first time Astin and Feldman said Goonies 2 was going to happen, so I (thankfully) wouldn't count on it happening.

If Speilberg is involved, I'll feel a little comfort.

There are plenty of sequels that are better or as good as their originals. Many have been listed in this thread now. I don't think anyone's mentioned Terminator 2. How about Friday the 13th part 2? That redefined the franchise. Spiderman 2?

A sequel just needs to have the same quality cast, direction and production of it's predecessor. There is no guarantee it's going to suck outright. I'd actually give my left nut for Ron Howard to make an epic 3 hour huge budget sequel to Willow about now.

I'd much rather see a version of this where they're all adults and a bit jaded now that all the magic of childhood is gone. Life is just dull, drab and ordinary and then something happens to get the whole ganag back together for one last adventure to see if they actually can rediscover adventure, excitement and pirate bounty once again. Also, if they can't get the original actors together (deceased Mama Fertelli and Sloth excepted) they shouldn't bother.

you know what, even though im sure the sequel will never be as good as the original, ill still go see it.
it wont ruin my childhood,
it wont ruin what i think of the original.
if the movie sucks, ill get over it and forget about it like i did every other crapy sequel.

I like the idea of the animated series but not another Goonies movie.
