It really is. Much, much better (that goes double if your favorite show is "Ugly Betty".)

*SPOILERS BELOW*

Unfortunately, it's almost over. Only one season left to wrap up one of the best shows on television. So far "Battlestar," aside from a brief stumble last season (no thank you, "Starbuck boxes Adama," episode), has been pitch perfect. From the insurgency, to the reveals of the various Cylons, to the killing of the obnoxious Kat, to the resurrection of Starbuck and the possible discovery of Earth...

Plenty of great shows have stumbled down the home stretch, though. Right "X-Files"? Yeah. I doubt it could happen here, but, just in case, here's what I think needs to happen before it's all over and done with.

- Fraking deliver Earth already! Seriously, like, soon. By episode three Starbuck and Adama better be browsing for KROBY lamps at IKEA while fighting over a pinkberry. I hate "fish out of water" stories but, somehow, I'd like to see it here. The whole crew for the rest of the season, just dicking around Earth, enjoying our comic books, video games and many cheaply-priced family dining options. Cheesecake Factory? Sure.

Just scene after scene of them picking up various items and saying, "What is this?" Hah, Chief, you crazy kid you, that's a wrench. It's like your "space wrench," only different.

- That Cylon/human hybrid baby (Hera? Zeus? I forget) better fulfill its destiny and do something awesome. Maybe they can age it 4400-style or, make it magic... I don't know but none of that "pawning the baby off on some family and then not a word til the credit crawl of the last episode where we read that she 'later saved Earth' or something." Show it already.

- Mr. Gaeta needs to come out of the closet. And take one of the Cyclon Centurians with him. C'mon, you guys, everyone deserves somebody. Don't you know it's cold in space.

- Somebody explains the rules to that shitty-ass sport the rebels played back on Caprica. Cool, I'm running around like an idiot trying to huck a metal ball through a horizonal hole. Isn't this awesome?! No, this is dumb. It's like basketball minus everything that's enjoyable about basketball. No thanks.

- Now that Colonel Tigh's been revealed as a Cylon I want him drinking with RECKLESS ABANDON. Morning, noon and night. Fuck that easy does it shit, let's take that Cylon liver out for a spin, shall we? Bonus points if someone warns him about the drinking and he winks, all sly and smarmy-like, and says, "Oh, I think I've got it covered, heh, heh... Believe me, buddy, It is taken care of... In fact, you might say, I'M A CYLON. Wait--"

- Show us the last Cylon. And good luck making it a shock, too. I mean, I wish you the best but considering about 90% off the cast has been revealed as toasters, I don't see how you're gonna pull this one off. At this point I can't even remember who isn't a Cylon. Starbuck? Little Adama? Quantum Leap guy?

- Somehow work Tricia Helfer's Playboy issue into an episode. I'm not picky about how. Maybe a Centurion finds it, opens it, and smoke comes billowing out of his ears. Then pan over to "Quantum Leap guy" who says, "Talk about a skin job!"

Yeah, I don't really get it either.

Here's the new "BSG" trailer, in all its Galactic-ey glory.

Holy Frak! What the hell was I worried about. It will be awesome.

Lords of Kobol be with us...

TheCoolerKing is pretty sure he sat near Tricia Helfer at the Morales/Pacquiao fight in Vegas. And he's pretty sure he was caught gawking at her.

I love this show. Like, if I could, I'd take it to Rome and yell it out and scare all the birds in that square. For reals.

I have dragged people into my apartment and planted them in a chair and forced them to watch this, kicking and screaming. And everyone of them has loved it, geeks and mundanes alike.

Which is good, because otherwise they probably would have arrested me for assault and kidnapping.

Even if you don't own a television, you should find a way to watch this show.

Battlestar Galactica: Better Than Whatever Show You Like

Agreed

I only recently started watching BSG and I am disappointed in myself for catching the show so late now that the next season will be the final one. I still haven't watched season 3 though and there's no release date yet for the DVD.

Love the show. Can't wait for the final season. I hope Baltar gets killed in a very bad way. It's going to take a lot to come close to the excitement of the premiere last season though. Galactica doing that orbital drop and then jumping out was fucking beyond badass!!

season 1 and 2 were soooooooo good, but ever since 2.5 (with a few exceptions early in season 3) it's been disappointing me. i'm kind of glad there's only one season left, maybe they'll cut out the filler episodes in 4. i am excited to see what happens, though.

It really is the best show on TV, but its host isn't treating it so well. Besides choosing to end at 4 seasons, Sci-Fi may be splitting up the 4th season into two parts: 10 episodes playing in spring 2008, and 10 in spring 2009. This is per Jamie Bamber, Aaron Douglas and Richard Hatch at DragonCon.

I took a bundle of notes from their panels but will just mention a snippet Aaron about the Five:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

About the Final Five, Douglas said that they are, "totally different from the other seven. Each is unique. There's only one copy of each." Talking to Douglas about it, Ron Moore said, "We [the FF] are Cylons. We have been from the beginning." The key question, Douglas says, is "the beginning of what?"

yeah last episodes... Sci-fi also has that (what appears to be a mini-series, but i am unsure) Battlestar Galactica Razor, about a young Admiral Adama during the first cylon war... that should be out in late Novemeber and hold us over till the new year. they are suppose to be showing snippets during Flash Gordon on Fridays, but i haven't watched that show yet, has anyone seen it (flash gordon) is it any good?

My roommate would always used to mock me for watching BSG back when it was on Friday night, and i would stay in to watch (what was to me) the most killer line-up Sci-Fi ever had with star gate SG-1 followed by Atlantis followed by Battlestar Galactica. Yes I lost friends, lost touch with family, and became a hermit, but i knew time would vindicate me... it has. my roommate downloaded the first 2 seasons and watched them all in like 2 days, and then he would be jumping around telling when the show was coming on when it moved to sundays... it is so kick ass it hurts. and unlike other sci-fi themed shows, which are good, Battlestar has that gritty realism to it. maybe it is the hand held cameras, or the realism of the special effects, or it could be how the technology while advanced doesn't seem completely beyond what we could accomplish in the next couple of centuries... or maybe it is just the Edward James Olmos effect. i dunno, it just seems better than any of the star treks, yes even Deep Space 9 (which was amazing) or Babylon 5 (even though Season 4 was probably the best season of any sci-fi show i have ever seen! seriously, it was intense.) battles star stands above them all.

the wire is good, but it is no galactica. if HBO would have picked up Galactica that would have been amazing! the thing i don't like about the Wire was last season, i know it was kind of a rebuilding season, getting the crew back together to take down Marlo and his crew, but it just moved to slow and kept waitng and waiting and waiting for something to happen and then the season ended, not in a good i wonder what is going to happen next kind of way either, in the Goddamit, what the fuck is this shit kind of way. and Rome was better, and deadwook... the wire is better than the sopranos and oz. but no way is it better than Galactica.

my favorite episode was the one where Malcom dueled that guy on the planet for Inara, and was wounded to shit but still won... that was pretty kick ass, or the one where Malcom and wash were captured and tortured... i thought with the success of the movie they might reignite the series, but i guess not. Everyone i know who has seen the movie has liked it. oh well, oh well...

TOO MUCH HAIR!

Never caught BSG, but I like Ron Moore's work on TNG and DS9, so I'm sure it's very good.

I'm glad that the show is finishing. It seems every other show is run into the ground. I mean, look at the X-Files example used.

I love BSG.

You might want to include a spoiler alert for the Colonel Tigh thing though, that might bother anyone who hasn't been keeping up with the past season.

Oh, and I'm forced to agree that The Wire is the best show in the history of television.

HOLY SHIT, is it far more interesting and detailed than any other Si-fi show of recent history! I was really blown-away by it.

In fact - I think I better go watch Season Two... smile

Totally agree. The boxing episode was the bottom of the barrel. It got a tad better, but last season was very weak. I'm worried about the 4th.
