What about OddJob from the James Bond movie? He couldn't even speak!

With that hat of his, he didn't need to.

Actually I think Wong was supposed to be a hot-shot eastern-martial-arts man in his own right (not up to Shang-Chi's standards, but good enough) though as always it depended on who was writing the book at the time. And this is the first time I've heard of those Trade Federation folks as being "Asian-based" (you could make a greater argument for Lando's co-pilot in Return of the Jedi).

I'm surprised no one mentioned the "Oriental Guy" from Blackhawk. He was "cleaned up" for the modern PC era, but some of his wartime appearances are just painful. puke

Hey Cooler, you gotta watch Mike Ditka sign an autograph for Byong Sun, the little Asian boy on his team in the Will Ferrell soccer movie Kicking & Screaming. Asks his name twice, insists he's got it, then signs the autograph 'Bing Bong'. Brazen and completely un-PC as you say, but for some reason they get away with it where it's not harsh.

Actually Asian (or at least certain Asian-nation-specific) stereotypes pop up in Asian media too e.g. the Chinese-girl-who-speaks-broken-Japanese in certain manga/anime (Shampoo from Ranma is the most obvious, but not the only one).

This picture looks like she has a maxi pad on a string . . .

And I would like to know how I can get a "mustache trap".

Jackie Chan was a lot better before he left china. Snake and Crane Arts of the Shaolin, and Drunken Master were awesome. Rush Hour. . .not so awesome.

That's not only "BAD ASIAN STEREOTYPE", it's also Jamie Kennedy being a douche. I totally expect that from him.

I wish I could find an intro piece to this on Youtube, but the best asian performance by a man not named Toshiro Mifune was Akiru by none other than Takashi Shimura. Shimura's best known for Kambei in Seven Samurai.

Badass actor.

Because Asian theater has such enlightened and fair western characters?

It's a good list, though. Especially coming (for me) 3 days after seeing Rush Hour 3. =/

Rob Fukazaki.
Man that is one awesome honorable mention. Even better then the rest because he's the sports guy on ABC. So stereotypical.

Most of you are perhaps too young to remember these two, described in summaries I swiped from elsewhere:

Cartoon character Charlie, an ASIAN houseboy who worked for the near-sighted senior citizen, Mr. Magoo (or as Charlie would say "Mr. Maglue"). Charlie's character was a stereotype with the long braided pony-tail and large beaver-toothed smile.

and

Hop Sing, a hot-tempered Chinese cook who worked for the Cartwright family on the Ponderosa ranch near Virginia City, Nevada in the late 1800's. Hop Sing was fond of reminding his employers "You listen Hop Sing. Hop Sing 'A-number-one' cook. Will cook whatever you like."

When I looked through Bonanza websites, I wondered if Hop Sing might actually have been a strong, well-portrayed Asian character. Ben Cartwright did pay him well, he was a valued part of the household and Ben's kids learned good life lessons from Hop Sing, but then I remembered Hop Sing in the rest of the episodes--"Hop Sing, I miss my wife. Bend over...."

Elaine got me blacklisted at Hop Sing's.
