I'm lost
April 2003

Yo. I think I had a package stolen that was to be delivered by UPS. It says it was delivered, it says they left it on my porch.

There was never a package left on my porch on the day they said it was delivered.

Any ideas on who I should contact about this?

I'm totally bummed. frown This was something that I had ordered for myself as a birthday gift for me. Bummer. frown

I would contact UPS and wherever you ordered from. If you chose the option that would let them leave it without a signature, you might be screwed... but be a little pathetic and maybe someone will take pity on you :-)

I didn't choose the option for them to leave it. In fact I never have. Every time that I have ever ordered anything I have always received the little slip on my door that says 'Sorry we missed you." And I usually end up going to the UPS place to pick up my packages.

I don't need to be pathetic or have anyone take pity on me. The situation blows, but if it's somehow my fault then so be it. Bummer.

Maybe it's easier for me to pretend to be pathetic without actually being pathetic (I was an actor once). If you're too proud to do that, I retract the suggestion.

Thank you.

I just tried calling and that got me no where. Automated systems suck. frown

I had this happen. It was left with F. Ront Door. I'm not kidding. When they said that it took me a few minutes to realize it was front door. I ended up screwed.

I do something similar with Sprint when I call them to find out about my newest ass-rapings from them.

When the automated voice comes on, I say representative until the bitch finally gives up and sends me to someone. You can actually say 'representative, bitch' and it will still put you through. tongue tongue

UPS is the devil. Just saying.

I suggest you deal with the shipper directly. They are the ones who are going to have to make the claim anyway.

UPS has this new ring and run policy. They used to only deliver packages if you answered the door. Now they just put the package on your porch ring the bell and take off. That's fine if you live in a safe neighborhood, but in places where thugs get to know their delivery times it's not such a good idea. I recently opened my door to get a pizza delivery and found UPS had left a package worth over $1200 for me out front without a signature. Needless to say, even though I got my package, I was seriously pissed it had been there for anyone to take.

The shippers have deals with internet retailers (I am sales manager for one), where the shipping rates are less if the shippers do not require a signature. They are just trying to save some cash.

I had this happen once. I was a member in a "beer-of-the-month-club" and the deliveries never started. I called the company and long story short the delivery guy had been stealing my package every month by stating it was "left on porch" despite the fact it was a signature required item. A police sting was involved and a whole theft ring was busted.

Did you get to do a stake-out?

I had this happen with the USPS a couple months ago. They had delivery confirmation as far as the date and time go, but I still never even saw the package. Ultimately, I was shit out of luck and never got any compensation at all. Prepare for the same.

Or a shoot-out?

Both actually. I did a John Woo style slow-motion-dive-through-the-air-while-shooting thing too

I have waited at home for UPS deliveries, when their website said the package was to be delivered that day, and the UPS driver never showed up. However the website reported an attempted delivery, nobody home, and s note left - it was not. I would complain to USP and shipper. Now I just have the packages sent to my office. UPS SUCKS!!

UPS has delivered 2 out of 3 packages for me to the wrong address. It wasn't remotely close to mine. I mean, the streets began with the same letter, that was all. I was lucky enough that the guy who lives at the place they were dropped off at is completely honest and brought my packages to me.

I am supposed to have 2 important packages delivered this week. I hope they bring them to my house, not the other dude's.

weird. packages that are insured for $1000 or more are the driver's personal responsibility. the driver has to sign for it each time it passes hands. and they're not allowed to drop high valued items w/o a signature. i'm guessing that the value of your item wasn't declared before they shipped it. that's pretty shitty.
