Um, anyone in the military will tell you that getting plastic surgery from a military doctor is a SCARY prospect. Our healthcare isn't really provided by the best and brightest the world has to offer. A lot of doctors in the military are there because servicemen and women can't sue for malpractice...
That being said, I looked into a breast REDUCTION and was told that I had to have at least 8 months of medical documentation for my chronic back problems before I could even APPLY to have the surgery CONSIDERED. Meanwhile, one of the girls I work down the hall from got a free set of fake tits because having small ones "made her feel bad about herself". Pfft! Try living in PHYSICAL PAIN every fucking day of your life!

Of course that New Yorker article also states that a woman getting breast enlargement surgery has to supply her own implants meaning it's hardly comped by the US military; they just pay to have them put in.
Which is the expensive part.
Also, the military doesn't PAY for tats and other body mods...in fact, there are rules restricting their location, types allowed (no piercings for men, only ears for women), and content. Which make your point irrelevent. And people DO equate them with loose morals...
