i wish i could say that my dad does something cool, like he operates a wrecking ball or something, but i come from a rich-white-yuppie suburb of chicago where everyone is either in real estate, or like my dad, they are a Mechanical Engineer... even though it is kind of cool to say that my dad holds 11 patents.

oh yeah, and he's English... like, really really, straight off the boat, drinks tea instead of coffee, still is an English citizen even though he's been in the USA since 1967, still has a thick English accent, ENGLISH.

i love him anyways, though.

He's an engineer. He also curls, plays basketball and keep me from starving when I need it most.

All in all, he's a cool guy by me.

My Dad's name is Earl, and he's a truck driver. And I swear to god that's the truth. I couldn't make this up. He even has a beard and a devil tattoo on his forearm. He's perfect.

My Dad's a social worker. He's devoted his life to helping people. Also he's pretty much always suffering from depression. Pretty good guy overall.

When you live in Detroit, chances are you're a bitch to the auto industry. GM keeps dicking my dad around, laying him off and re-hiring him whenever they like. He can't refuse to go back, because it pays way better than anything else he can find during down time. There ain't much work in America for white males in their fifties.

My dad was an unwitting sperm donor. As for his profession, he designed electronic guidance systems for missiles.

That's kinda like Rocket Science, right?

My dad has busted his ass for a long time, but never stuck with any one thing, and hence, never made much money. He still busts his ass, but he's got more direction now at 57 than he ever had while I was growing up. He's a courier to pay the bills, but he also buys and sells a little real estate around town. I love my dad, he hasn't always been easy to get along with, but he's a great down to earth guy who makes me see things from a different perspective. He went out on the streets for a bit when my parents split in '89 and did the whole soul searching thing. He grew up Methodist, but he's now more of a transcendental, pan-Christan Bhuddist.
