I do!

I recently went to the New York Burlesque Festival with a local (Denver) Burlesque troupe as their photographer and saw some amazing acts. I shoot a lot of burlesque shows around town at different venues and I've noticed the crowds are getting bigger and bigger, which is very cool.

I'm also shooting for a start up design company that will be making a line of burlesque outfits and burlesque inspired clothing as well as custom outfits for burlesque dancers. My wife has also caught the bug and took some burlesque classes and has performed in 3 shows and has a few more in the coming months. She makes her own outfits and choreographs her routines and I sometimes remix her music for her.

It seems burlesque is making a huge comeback and I wondered who else is on board? Do any of you perform or are you interested in being a burlesque dancer? Do you hang out with burlesque dancers? Do you go to burlesque shows or want to go to one? How big is this whole thing getting?

I know there are two major troupes in Denver and a lot of smaller groups and freelance burlesque dancers and their shows almost always sell out. What's happening with burlesque in your neck of the woods? Do you have any burlesque stories?

Great shots as always, Daniel.

When I went back to CA in April/May, we were supposed to see a show at a place called 40 Deuce but the show was canceled.

There isn't shit in eastern WA though.

I love burlesque and how big it has gotten. If it wasn't for catching a couple of acts mixed in with some shows we've been to, I would have never even really known about it. I did take the burlesque classes and absolutely LOVED it. So now I've started performing. I've talked to a lot of people in town who are interested in learning or at the very least have loved what they have seen. I'm seeing quite a large interest in groups of people I would not have expected (ie: the corporate world). I was actually talking to someone today at work who wants to open up a wine bar that would cater to artists, performance, and burlesque. So that would make at least 2 clubs in Denver that would regularly have burlesque and have that lounge/cabaret atmosphere. So while it is fairly big already, I'm just seeing it get bigger and bigger. I really would love to see what else and other groups are out there besides the major conventions (NY, Exotic World, Tease-O-Rama, etc) and hear about what other groups and people are doing.

Here's me at my first show! Photos by DanielK

Well I was hoping for a bigger response from burlesque people. I was actually wondering if it was worth it to try starting a group for burlesque performers and enthusiasts to share stories, tips and tricks and somewhere for photographers to post burlesque shots. Is this, perhaps, the wrong board for this?

There is already a burlesque group called SG Burlesque which does have many non-SG-related burlesque threads.

It isn't terribly active though.

I saw that. I don't think it's active because the SG Burlesque troupe isn't active and touring so the focus of the group is kinda dead.

Oh well. Maybe a Burlesque Group isn't the way to go for now.

Interesting burlesque article I found. Jo Weldon (Jo Boobs), who I met in NYC, is interviewed.

Does anyone else have some burlesque pictures they would like to share?

Cool video!

I love burlesque... well... classy burlesque at any rate....

my favorite is Teatro ZinZanni in SF.
I was so excited at the last Pride Parade in SF, my cast's float was directly in front of their's...
it was a lot of fun.

Those are some really great photos. I know there are some girls in Louisville that have a trop, or they use to. I don't remember the name of them but I know that a year and a half ago that Maddy was in the trop.

As I type this, I am backstage at The Hideout theatre getting ready for my troop's halloween show.

I'm in the midst of burlesque writing about burlesque.

How meta.

I still would love a burlesque group.
