Robert Jordan passed away earlier today. (link) He'd been ill for quite some time, so it's not a big surprise, but it still sucks. Especially since the final book of the Wheel of Time, (#12), is still incomplete. Thus, alas, confirming my fears that he'd die before he finished the damn thing.

Supposedly his wife and cousin received enough details on what he was planning to finish out the book, but I really can't think of a case where that's worked very well. I guess we'll have to see.

Oh, that's very sad. I love sci-fi/fantasy, and I've read several of his books.

However, I will throw myself off a cliff the day something happens to my beloved Terry Pratchett. frown

Damn it! How could he die before finishing it! Quick, someone make him rise from the dead.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

I didn't find his writing spectacular, but I hate not getting the ending. Especially when I've invested that many hours reading books over 700 pages long.

there's something amazing about the body of work that he left behind -- he can truly never die so long as those books are in print.

still, what an asshole! honestly, dying before he finished was a total dick move.

I'm glad someone said it before I did. I'm really bummed.
