Rock the fuck on: a new study says that the pill cuts the risk of any kind of cancer by 12%.

The one down side is that women who took the pill for over eight years are apparently more likely to get cervical cancer. But as the linked article points out, that's possibly the effect not of the pill, but of condomless sexual activity; most sexually active adults have contacted HPV at some point, and as we all know, some strains of HPV are known to cause cervical cancer.

And hey, there's a vaccine against that these days. Hurrah for science!

Watch insurance companies make it a requirement to be on birth control unless actively after a kid now. It would save them billions and billions in the reduction of cancer treatments.

My mother had a stroke which was believed to be caused by mixing the pill with another perscription medication she was on. She's paralized now. This was almost twenty years ago, mind you, but yes, I would consider it a "bad thing" when someone would be forced into taking a drug in order to get health insurrance.

These statistics only apply to women who have a vagina. Also featured in this new study, a statistic that claims virtually 100% of women who had cancer ALSO had a vagina. Coincidence? I think not.

This shouldn't be surprising at all. There are tens of thousands of scientific articles about the links between hormones and cancer.
