The population in Russia has fallen for a number of reasons, politics being one of them. Friends of ours are from Russia...and she pretty much CANNOT go home to visit her parents, because they won't let her leave the country to come back to Canada.

Aren't the solutions obvious? Address the problems of AIDS, suicide and alcoholism, rather than encourge more babies to be born into those situations.

I would say that AIDS, alcoholism and suicide are, well, pretty horrific.

I was just told by someone who lives there that most of the girls she knows want careers and are taking birth control instead of falling into the same situation her mother (and many other women her age) did where she was pregnant at 14.

I've learned that many industry positions which were only available to men are now open to women such as energy and construction.

One of the girls is studying to become an engineer in the gas and oil industry and the other is studying construction management.

Ok putting overpopulation aside, how awesome is to have a "take the day off and fuck day"? That is a holiday I can get behind, or over or under or whatever position you prefer. I would vote for this idiot over any of the idiots that represent me.

It’s a sensible enough encouragement which will hopefully increase the Russian population, which in the Russian government’s eyes is a good thing.

It’s also kind of wrong to say or suggest that the Russian government and Russian business aren’t doing anything to fight aids or suicide. TPAA, their also implementing more conventional governmental methods to hopefully increase the population such as increasing the child support funds that new parents get, just like the British system.

It is a funny article but I don’t see why some folks are almost getting up in arms about Russians having more sex :/
