My dog jumped up on my keyboard and his paw got the lower left side of it. Ever since, my window is HUGE-- like what my grandmother sets hers on so she can read it. Anyway, it's driving me mad and I went into My Computer and clicked on display and tried to fix it that way to no avail. Anyone know how to get rid of it and get my window back to normal?

This is a guess but you could check your Accessibility options under Control Panel.

Make sure your settings aren't enabled for those who are impaired.

Nope. Already tried that. His paw literally hit like 3 keys which is why I'm thinking it's a Ctrl Shift Alt thing or something. I will feel pretty ridiculous taking it in to the shop for this

It could also be the bit depth that your graphics card is set to.

You may or may not want to reboot to see if that brings up a warning window or something on reload.

but---- my dog could have changed that in a half a second? Seriously, it was fine, then he jumped up on it and it was like this immediately.

I have no clue what kind of freaky shortcuts that crafty Mr. Gates has created.

I pushed random keys on my keyboard once and all of a sudden it burned when I urinated....for like a week.

I would just try anything that is graphics-related on your system.

I hate to be the one who notifies you, but your dog wrote this earlier in your blog:

I 4m 4 L33T H4x0r! F34r m3!

And your color quality/bit depth is 16 or higher? See if there is a control panel for your video card, too. There could be a hotkey sequence that your dog activated.

I know ATI has something called a Catalyst Control Panel that has all sorts of neato settings.

If that doesn't work, you can try clicking on the "Troubleshoot" button on the SETTINGS tab inside Display Properties. The last option "I cannot set the video resolution above 640 × 480 with 16 colors." may help.

What do you mean when you say your "window is huge?" The whole desktop - icons, font, task bar, etc are now gigantic? Is your screen resolution too large? Is it just the font on your desktop?

Have you double-checked your screen resolution? Right-click on your desktop, select "Properties," click on the "Settings" tab and verify that your resolution is at least 1024x768 or larger.

On the same tab, click on "Advanced." Make sure your bit depth is normal (96 dpi) in the Display box.

If it's just your font, click on the "Appearance" tab and make sure the font size at the bottom is set to "Normal."

Depending on your graphics card or chipset, there can be many hidden short cuts floating around. For example, Intel graphics accelerators enjoy hiding a keyboard shortcut that rotates your screen 90 degrees. My dad's cat has done that to him a couple of times, and the girls down at my apartment complex's office have done it several times. Whenever it comes up I disable the ability to rotate their screen. wink

Ugh this is all a foreign language to me!

I know it's set to normal. I'll try the other stuff you said. When I reboot nothing out of the ordinary happens. And what I mean by a huge window is that it's as if my whole screen is swollen-- my desktop image no longer fits on the screen, my icons blew up, my window is too big so I have to scroll side to side to do things and the text is huge an annoying. Hate it!! frown

And yes, my doggie is to be feared....Last year my cat caused me to spill coffee on my keyboard and so I no longer have an 'f' button. Some people will recall that incident wink

Silly pets!

You're welcome. I seem to remember answering this exact same thing once before, but I think it was due to a cat and not a dog. There seems to be some little known keyboard combination that lowers the resolution, which is vulnerable to pet paws. kiss
