Embrace The Weapon: Gun Kata (tm) ...

biggrin biggrin biggrin

"The Gun Katas: Through analysis of thousands of recorded gun fights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element.

The Gun Kata treats the gun as a total weapon. Each new position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents, while keeping the defendant clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire."

Welcome to EQUILIBRIUM

This movie rocks!

It's good. If you liked it, you might like Boondock Saints, another straight-to-video b movie that manages to be good.

The movie has some of the best action scenes i have ever seen. After i saw it at the movies all i could see was death and muzzle flashes for hours.

you can't.

perhaps that poster was being facetious and referring to Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, which this story shares some similarities with (but also differs from)

AFAIK there is no official Equilibrium book, nor was it formally based on any novel. The writer/director also renounces any F-451 comparisons.

Mmmm. You can't beat a Beretta 92... Except with a Modified Beretta 92...

I wonder what that little rocker switch is for just above and in front of the trigger? That's normally the slide-release button...

Well, I just did a quick check for you from the film,

The modified switch positions (top to bottom) for the Grammaton Cleric sidearm are:

- AUTO
- SEMI
- LOCK

Ok, what's the big deal?

The movie's story is derivative of F-451, 1984, and that old Macintosh ad. It defies its own logic by having "emotionless" baddies yell and scream and get all pissed off while banging their fists on whatever object is nearby. The characters look like extras in the Matrix, the sets are like a melodramatic Brazil, and although the action scenes were pretty good, I'll take some of John Woo's earlier stuff over Equilibrium any day.

But I guess that's just one man's opinion.

the movie is awesome but they do lay on the 1984 pretty fuckin thick. if you are looking to have a movie you can analyze for hours upon end this isnt the one, but shit you cant beat kung fu gun fighting.
and as for people being emotionless it is explained in the movie as being vestigal.

Sure it's derivative. But it's still a fun ride. I thought it had a cool style, and the action scenes are definitely great. Nicely imagined and shot.

Mix a little Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Matrix, Brave New World and a few others i can't think of...add Christian Bale...voila: Equilibrium.

oops... no, there is no book. I always say damn good film, better book since everyone always says the book is better when I bring up any movie I like. it's a saying and nothing more, unfortunately.
