I'd also like to suggest The Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony. Takes place in a world of magic and technology. the first book, On A Pale Horse, deals with the incarnation of death. Subsequent novels in the series focuses on Time, Nature, Fate, War, Satan and God. All stand good on their own but best read in order. the one about Satan, For Love Of Evil is especially interesting as it covers everything from the preceeding books, only from Satan's point of view.

Yesterday I read the last 100 pages of The Third Chimpanzee by Jared Diamond, yesterday. If you're brave enough to delve into non-fiction or if you have an interest in anthropology than I definitely recomend it.

After that I read Existenitalism and Human Emotion by Sartre. It was a slow day.

Good call, man... although the writing falters from time to time, the concept of the series is fantastic.

i agree, "on a pale horse" is the best (the 1st one) .
It is his best series, as a whole too.

.................................

also...
Hot Zone (true story , about the Ebola virus)
Stephen King said; "...the most frightening thing i have ever read."
fucking awsome book.

Neuromancer (also the 2nd & 3rd in the series, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive are good too) by William Gibson
also Burning Chrome by W. Gibson too (short stories ,some "became" characters in above series)
if you donot know who Willaim Gibson is , he "invented" most of the terms we use on the internet (including "the internet" , "the web" ,"cyberspase", and "black ice"[as in corprate internet security]) before there WAS an internet.

also there wasnt a style of writing called "cyberpunk" bafore he wrote "neuromancer",.someone came up with that word to describe HIS books.

i dont really like his other books, but these alone make him my "personal favorite" of all time.
there are so many things in his books that he just made up, that are a reality today (the internet, drugs through "patches", Virtual Reality, implants, smart weapons, etc.)

if our internet (as we know it) has a "founding father" , it's him.
