In the movie Ghost World, she did a great job helping to bring one of my favorite graphic novels to life in a way that didn't totally butcher it.
no offense or anything, but it's not like they had to stay true to your interpretation or anyone else's for that matter, nor did they have to do the film for you or anyone else.

i guess i'm a dick.

Get over yourself. If there's anyone who would support artists doing covers, it's Tom Waits, a man whose musical inspirations cover the gamut of covers-based genres: blues, jazz, pop standards, Weimar cabaret. All the music that has influenced Tom Waits has been music in which the songs are constantly taken and remolded by other artists. There's nothing sacrosanct about that music. It's music for the people.

Either way, the left or the right, die-hards or noobs, somebody's going to end up bashing this album, and I couldn't give a fuck either way.
If it lives up to its talk, it's going to be amazing. My question would be, why not go with Jon Brion (Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann, Elliott Smith) as the producer? This is right up his alley, not to mention the kind of cred the album would get at the get go.

Did Scarlett Johansson just become "the people"?
Why not? Being famous makes you not a person?
I guess I should make sure I never become successful at my job so that I can stay a person.
