seriously.
the fact that marijuana is illegal and alcohol is not is patently absurd.

"God" must have made a mistake putting that evil plant everywhere for us to..um..use..Like those renegades that used hemp to write the Declaration of Independence on..Let's make nature against the law though..Silly humans

well god also made the poppy but the junk i used to shoot is just about as "natural" as the pot that is out on the streets. and face it, Sir, you're gunna get high no matter if it's leagal or not, so don't hid behind the declaration of independence and it's signers when it suits your argument.

Apparently that depends on how you define "nature."

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

The Clean Air Act requires the federal government (meaning the EPA) to set limits on air pollutants emitted from the tailpipes of new motor vehicles. California is the only state allowed to deviate from the standards set by the federal government, and it is only allowed to do so if its standards are at least as protective of human health as the federal standards, and it obtains a waiver from the EPA. Other states have the choice of adopting the federal standards or the California standards.

Wikepedia

I am not sure how technically proficient Wikipedia is.

True enough, but Cheyenne's point was that state law must always yield to federal law, and that's not always the case.

States having tighter standards are just as contentious as states having looser standards, but to different groups.

I swear I am not trying to be difficult. I just don't understand this statement.

Please rephrase it into 3rd grade speak?

OK, for a good example of this check out the food industry lobbying for a uniform (but worthless) Federal food standard to supersede individual state standards, which are often stricter and pay more attention to state-specific foods - think mold-level limits in Georgia pecans and "still" percentages in Maine lobsters.

The food industry's excuse is that individual state standards on local foods are complex and burdensome.

riiiiiiight, cuz it doesn't affect you except maybe if your mom got MS and nothing else helped her... but uh, you seem to be not too worried about other people. you just want to argue against something with which you have no real experience and cite articles that are probably propaganda. I bet I would rip them apart in about 10 min. so why don't you visit some other thread?

to the relevant people in this thread: the feds just froze bank accounts of the Berkeley Patients' Group, a great organization that provides free services and is one of only 4 dispenseries in Berkeley and the only one that provides vaporizers and a place where you can medicate. PLEASE GIVE PELOSI'S OFFICE A CALL IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE SO. THANKS. (415) 556-4862

They're breaking the law.

I get holy fucking pissed off when i get pulled over for a rolling stop through a stop sign. The first thought that runs through my mind is "With all the theft we have had around here, you're worried about me rolling through a stop sign? everyone does it"

but here is the deal. I rolled through the stop sign, i knew the consequences if i got caught, but i still did it. Therefore i am responsible for my actions. It doesn't matter if the cop should of been catching someone doing something worse, he caught me.

I am all about medical marijuana. I firmly believe that if you are in the last stages of your life and pot can make you feel better, go for it. But when these people open the clinics, they know that there may be consequences, they take the chance, they have to be responsible for their actions. They broke the law.

The law is the law, whether you like it or not. Only you can change the law.

All of you who sit here an bitch that pot isn't legal, then do absolutely fucking nothing to make it legal, quit bitching. I was going to help get pot legalized......but then i got high.....but then i got high, but then i got high.

and i was wondering how long it would take for the "Alcohol vs. Weed" argument to start.

They're both shitty for you. If you choose to feed either of these thing in excess into your body, bad things do happen.

i wouldn't really care if they banned alcohol too.
