I, like many before me, must throw my vote to Les Stroud. I've only seen a couple of episodes of Man vs. Wild and in one he decided to throw himself into a river and let the current carry him downstream BECAUSE IT WAS FASTER THAN WALKING. That's great, Bear, but now you are soaked and night is falling. I don't think that was the best choice.
Les Stroud is also a real life environmental nutbag. Except that unlike mere environmentalists, he lives totally off the grid, and applies his survival skills to live in every day life. And as far as environmentalism, it's pretty hardcore, and "out-there". I definitely respect him for that.
Also, as far as survival goes, Bear does do a lot of stuff that will turn an ordinary wilderness situation into a life or death wilderness situation. Les Stroud does stuff that is very smart to do, and will actually help keep you alive and keep the situation from escalating

It is a very fake show, but it is funny to watch him overact the urgency in certain situations. I like him. Even if his name isn't really Bear.
whoa whoa whoa........................his name isnt bear?
