We are currently reading The Grapes of Wrath in one of my classes. Last week, a few of us were outside smoking with one of our teachers. Somebody complimented my classmate "Joe's" shoes.

"Joe made those himself," I said. (He'd told me he'd "designed" them by choosing the colors on the manufacturer's website.)

"Since when are you a 12 year old girl in Pakistan?" the teacher kidded Joe.

It was a mildly amusing joke. I probably chuckled. I could also have raked him over the coals for being callous to plight of sweatshop workers, especially in light of the book he was teaching that very day, but I didn't because I've said much more callous things in my time.

The great thing about San Francisco is that you can live in a glass house and still get stoned. Or boned. That's all I'm saying. Hallelujah. But I'm moving back to NYC first chance I get.

I have no idea what is going on in this thread. Please to explain it.

Shampoo is better! I go on first and clean the hair.

Conditioner is better! I leave the hair silky and smooth.

Oh really, fool?

I went to school with Chicago Shorty.

He's taller than you'd imagine.
And, strangely, he's from Cleveland.

Chicago Shorty the mobster, Chicago Shorty the pool player, or Chicago Shorty the blues guitarist?

First of all, it's a bit disingenuous to simply call California the "entertainment" capitol.

i think i agree with subrosa surreal, calling it simply the entertainment capitol is a bit myopic. it ignores some incredibly important aspects of the state such as the development of silicon valley and their incredibly progressive policies toward stem cell funding.

Page 15 > Page 16. Go back a page and see if you might be able to figure out why I'm euthanizing this thread.

Note: if you come up with an answer, sit back and smugly consider how brilliant you are. There's no need to rush to me with the answer, or start another topic to enlighten everyone else.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
This thread was so much cooler in its heyday. This whole trend of "getting the thread back together and doing another tour" is bullshit, and just results in threads parodying themselves, or worse, attempting to become serious again long after their time has gone. These threads should really know when to throw in the towel and pass the torch to younger, more timely threads.
