Normally I kind of hate TV but I'm doing a lot of sitting and need entertainment.

I only get 4 channels in English here: CNN (All Terror All the Time!), CNBC (Stock Updates Every 11 Minutes!), BBC (Eastenders= puke ) and The Sailing Channel.

Anyway, I have figured out that I can get entire seasons of TV shows and watch them. I just need suggestions since I have no idea what people have been watching in the US for the past 5 years or so.

We like documentary type shows (that Morgan Spurlock show was great)...weird shit (Strangers with Candy) and well done dramas (Six Feet Under).

RIght now I am watching Big Love and recently saw a really good PBS documentary The Mormons. I also like The Office and am sucked into Friday Night Lights.

What TV shows are the best ones? If it's a few seasons old that's great too.

What about documentaries? Seen any good ones lately?

The Office can be pretty good. The Family Guy and The Simpons are way way past there prime. Most stuff on ABC, NBC, or CBS is just god awful. I'm no help, I mostly watch news or stupid political talk shows. wink

HBO's Rome is phenomenal. I really like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia when it was on, too.

planet earth might be the coolest thing that's ever been on television.

mythbusters, arrested development, law and order (all of them!)

as for older stuff....sports night, twin peaks, mr show, upright citizen's brigade, the state, spaced, the prisoner...

I completely agree. I loved Rome. But I'm a big nerd for stuff like that.

Planet Earth is one of the coolest shows ever, Rome, Deadwood, Lost (which you can download free on several sights) ... Friday Night Lights is a great show, barely renewed over here; there's a documentary called Go Tigers along that same line, which is great ... Battlestar Galactica. Some of the History Channel docs are pretty cool if you're into that... they cover everything from wars, to crazy fun shit like apocalyptic writing and lost books of the bible.

Thanks! I'm gonna look for some of those today. I don't want to be stuck watching episodes of Dismissed dubbed in German from 2002 anymore.
