almost TWO decades DG! me and a friend counted tonight... the shows first season was 89-90 (not counting the tracey ulman years), which means theyve finished thier 18th consecutive year of broadcasting half hour shows.
theres also a contest to vote which of the 30 or so springfields in america is THE springfield.
No kidding! Jesus christ, I feel old all of a sudden.

hey, advantage simpsons. they dont AGE! as a budding animator, i remember being really excited at how weird the ulman shorts were, and completely stoked for the premiere. i havent watched more than a random episode in ages, but i kinda hope the movie gives them enough of a boost to last through twenty seasons.

The L.A. one is on Venice and Sepulveda. I went today, there was a line to get in. Thankfully it didn't take too long, but then the line to get squishees was ridiculous. It seriously took like 20 minutes. They had a limit of 3 per customer on the Buzz Cola, which I might add tastes more like Coke than it does Pepsi (thank god) and the Krusty-O's are just your normal run of the mill Fruit Loops. No jagged metal "O" though.
Oh and the doughnuts are delicious. They're 'homerific!"
Do the Krusty-O's at least come with flesh-eating bacteria?
The lack of Duff is all right with me. If we had 7-Elevens in Minneapolis anymore, and they turned any of them into Kwik-E-Marts, they'd have to sell 3.2 Duff beer anyway.
Apu is a bit of a sterotype, but not an extremely pejorative one. Most of the time we laugh with Apu, not at him. We also learn bits of Apu's culture and the Hindu religion. The episode in which Apu got married was quite reverential and all guest behaved wth respect, except Homer who impersonated Ganesh to stop the wedding, but in that case we all laughed at Homer's stupidity.
